Default 6th gen turbo help

I'm ready to throw my turbo on, but i'm looking for people with 6th gens to help me out.

I need pictures of how you run the iC piping, and where the IC is placed on your car and...

Some basic stuff, like injectors, tuning, etc.

I hope someone can help, i'm freakin out

do you know what injectors are you gonna use or are you asking for reccomendations? what are you going to tune it with? are you custom fabricating your piping?

I want to see what injectors other people are running (size wise), what programs they are tuning with.

I'm going to do custom piping, so yes i'm looking for pictures of setups that work because I need some guidance

Should've just bought a DRAG, or F-MAX kit. You wouldn't have to deal with this type of stuff if you did.

What type of fuel management?

Gotcha. It'd be at least $4k for all of the needed parts if you get one of those kits. Then you need the necessary electronics, etc.

I used an FMU/inline pump/missing link combo for ~6 months (have the FMU/pump for sale if you want it! LOL shameless plug) and I'm now using DSM 450cc injectors w/ the SAFC hack. Is your car auto or stick? If auto you are very limited with your management options.

Here's a pic under my hood, sorry the piping isn't more visible...

no need to panic if you're auto, just use the SAFC hack. Its better than the FMU setup anyways (no offense to the FMU guys), without forking out the cash for Hondata or AEM EMS.

450cc DSM injectors work, but you need to use a resistor box with them. A lot of people have used 440cc injectors too b/c there isn't a need for a resistor box (RC, Lucas, etc).

for IC piping.... easiest way would be to get a cheap ebay CAI for your charge pipe, and buy a mandrel-bend kit from JCWhitney or another company for the rest of the piping, unless your lucky enough to find someone selling used f23 IC piping

edit - found this, haven't heard anything good or bad about the site but they do IC piping if you don't feel like piecing it together yourself. http://www.explicitspeed.bravehost.com/

dsm injectors+safc will do great for you. you said youre on a budget so that is what i reccomend. some kits come with fmu's and thats why i used mine, i would never buy one to tune a turbo. they should do you fine for now, for a low-moderate boost level

here some hints when you doing your pipe

if you have an aluminium pipe to work on, have the shop beam roll the end of the pipe so it will have better grip to the silicone. I had my charge pipe(aem aluminum) blew on me once.

FMU and FPR stuff management is as ghetto as it would get.

OT: how do you test the spray pattern on injectors, say if you were looking at a set of DSMs but wanted to make sure they were up to par

here is a link to my turbo build up http://66.197.71.43/showthread...=1661 . It's from start to finish even the making of all the pipes and manifold. Ohh and lucky you I'm also auto so it shows the installation of a tranny cooler.

spray pattern? they all corn shaped as far as i know.

I would had a shop clean the injector before installation(assuming you are buying used blue/black top from dsm)

boost+faulty injectors=extra hole or two in the block

yeah i that's what I was saying lol, don't want to starve a cylinder from fuel b/c of a bad set of injectors. How much does it usually cost to get a set cleaned?

there pros and cons with the FMU or AFC hack. do ur research and then u choose your route. if u really wanted to get cheap......use radiator hoses for all charge pipes with either fuel management.......you aint gonna be boosting much....or u shouldn't be. FMU route is cheaper tho. FMU u can buy for aroudn 50 bones....missing link duno...maybe 50 too and ur done. AFC hack......AFC....at least 200 then another 100 for cleaned dsm injectors w/ clips and resistor box to be wired in. FMU is the simplest. the hack is just as shitty as the FMU. they r both bandaids, but the hack messes with timing, FMU messes with fuel pressure.

well, he will need FPR and FPR guage with or without FMU

radiator hose that just plain well..ghetto..make sure nothing rub, or it will cut the hose in no time

The hack is awesome. I've been running it for a year now and 10000 miles with no problems. Yes, there is ignition timing issues, but that's something we don't have to worry about too much. Our stock low compression motors don't mind it. Detination hasn't occured at all.
