Hondata S200 installed. Now getting CEL.
I installed the S200 and now I have a constant CEL. The car runs fine and vtec will engage so I figure it is not running in limp mode. The LED on the s200 lights up when the ignition is on and stays on. When I jump the service connector to check the CEL the check engine light doesn't blink. However the ABS light blinks almost like it is throwing codes. The only thing I think it can be is that this might be the shift light setting. I don't have any of the tuning software so I really can't check any of the settings.
Does anyone have any idea what this might be?
BTW....the ECU is a p28 which was previously used before the hondata install with no issues.
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated...

My S200 used to throw a CEL and act up a little bit until we removed a hose at a valve that's on the firewall right above the intake manifold.
You need to block the intake manifold vacuum line if you do that, of course.
You should also not delay too long getting it tuned. There's no way to be sure how far off ideal settings you are, and whether the fuel map or spark is off enough to do some damage.
(IMHO, your mileage may vary, standard disclaimer applies, and in the event of capture Her Majesty disavows any knowledge of the operation.)

MAP (manifold absolute pressure) gauge?

probably evap purge solenoid, I believe that is the only firewall mounted sensor on a dc2r that has vacuum lines.

Now that I think about it, doesn't Kenji ask people to disconnect that w/his ECU, too?

I've heard of people having to disconnect it when they switch to a chipped ECU or hondata.

Come to think of it, that does sound familiar now.
Since it seemed the earlier ECUs operated the evap purge opposite to the way the newer ECUs do (open vs. closed during idle ... or vice versa).

The evap purge was all ready dissconnected, as I have been running the car OBD1 for the last 8 months or so. I even tried pluging it back up to see what would happen. The car wouldn't even idle. The P28 was all ready chipped before I had it sent off to have it ready for Hondata. Kenji installed the 4 pin connector, so I am sure every thing is installed correctly. To make it worse I drove the car about 20 miles yesterday and everything seemed fine. When I was exiting the highway I put the clutch in and the engine cut off. It did this about 4 other times before I got back home..
Could this be a problem in the basemap?
Thanks to all who replied....Sgt, call me.

I will try this....I just disconnected the plug before. I will try the hose.
Thanks

the abs will blink if you have abs problems..tell me the code, and i'll look it up in my helms...my gsr was a 4-1 i think, front right abs sensor, i changed it, and fixed the problem..

Any updates?
Any updates?
If you are running a P28 or any ecu that does not have a knock sensor and the knock sensor is not dissabled, then you will have a CEL and it may not give any codes unless you read the codes using Hondalogger.
Have you had the car tuned, or are you just running on a basemap?

I emailed Sgt, I hope to have the R tuned in a couple weeks.

Probably for the best. He definitely knows his way around a Hondata.
