Default Fuel Pump Kill Switch

Okay, so I plan on running a fuel pump kill switch in my car, I've already got an alarm but I know with thieves these days you can never be too safe.

What I was planning on doing was splice the positive and negative wires, feed both ends to a switch, so when the switch is "On" it completes the circuit, allowing the fuel pump to well... pump. Here's what I see.

I used a light with a ground point and only got light from the yellow wire I'm pointing to, so I'm assuming that's positive signal. I just need to know which wires to cut to install the switch.

Shoot, i forgot the exact color, but if you search around there's several good tutorials. I think i used one from the EG forum, the only difference was that our power wire was a different color.

if you've got anything done to the car, you might as well rewire your fuel pump, and connect the switch to the relay..

i believe its the yel/blk wire, put a switch on that wire. its easy cut the wire, put the switch in the middle connect other side to other connector on switch, all done.

just make sure its the one that goes to power the pump and not the fuel gauge

And how do I do that?

its easy, take the wire off the connector underneath the seat, and plug the connector back on and turn the key, do you hear the fuel pump prime ?

and the wiring of the switch is easy

One way I've seen it done is to take the yel/black power wire and trace it back to the main relay, and do it from under the dash, so you can hide it better.

When I did it in my Integra it was a yellow wire with a black stripe, all I did was cut it, splice the two ends, run a wire from one end to a switch, then another wire from the switch to the other end of the yellow/black wire, never ran a relay and it was fine for months.

I always wondered why people did fuel pump kill switches. If the kill switch fails during driving, your engine won't get fuel. Do you know what happens next? Boom.

I'd use another signal to protect my car, but that is just me.

its a mechanical switch... on or off...if it fails its either not gonna turn off or its gonna stay on which is fine cuz then its gonna act like stock...I dunno what kinda switch you would use that has an automatic breaker in it or somethin that shuts off when it fails...cuz the switches we use are 25amp mechanical switches...like a heavy duty foglight switch

Boom when the engine doesn't get fuel? How would it be possible for anything to explode without some sort of fuel anyways?

And if it does fail, all you need is some extra wire and some scissors. Cut where you spliced in the connector and reconnect the factory wires stock style.

I always wondered why people talk out of their asses when the don't actually know what happens if an engine's fuel is cut off. Do you know what happens after people post wrong information about something they don't understand? Flame.

well he is right in a sense that if yoru were runnin a high boost car and you cut the fuel its bad for the motor, it runs lean for that 1 sec, or so they say. other say theres no fuel at all so it doesnt combust so it doesnt run lean cause its not runnin. idk what your take on it is

I seen a DIY thing on the next about a kill swich. it was very good. It was using magnets and stuff that you swipe across your door and a magentic swich would open/close.

I cant find the link though!!

just a suggestion; connect the fuel pump's ground to a switch instead of the power wire.

Umm.. Why?

There's many cases where manufacturers switch the ground.

BTW why do you insist on coming off as an idiot? Your making the rest of us Canadians look bad

Name one please.

When you swich a ground, neutral, return whatever. (even on 120V) It can backfeed if something else comes in contact with it, therefor blowing up or burning out things.

You just dont switch the ground. Its common knowledge. You want NO power at the device when it is turned OFF.

Yeah and your so right about canadians. Your obviously ignorant as well, please refrain from using personal attacks on me. It does in now way help prove you are right.
