EXPO 4: Would you all rather just Cancel the Expo?
I am pretty down about the Expo this year. The moves have been bad but even worse has been everyone's attidutes and lack of participation. This event is for the community but if the community doesn't want to have it then I feel like I am putting a lot of effort into nothing.
I am starting a new job and am taking time off unpaid to attend. I am spending time working on sponsors but don't want to make promises based on the dismal community support.
I want to hear from you guys. Please be realistic when discussing this since it isn't feasible to have it for 20 people and opening it up to 40 non Type-R's just makes it any other track day.
I don't want to let anyone down but I don't want to do a lot of work in vain either.

I say that if you dont get the R attendance needed, I dont think it should be held at all. It will defeat the purpose and just be another track day. Granted it still may be a good time, but it wont be an ITR Expo.
Unforunately financial problems have come at a bad time for me, so Im still 50/50 at this point on going.

Everyone should just come to the USGP instead
.
Larkin who wishes he could afford to go to the expo.
Hopefully it can still happen as I am very excited even though I can't go. Either way, Trey, you are the man for trying your best to make this thing work

i'm disappointed in the turn out also
I sure hope it happens b/c I've been looking forward to seeing everyone again and driving on the BeaveR. I don't care if it's going to cost me an arm, a leg and my left nut to get myself and the car there. Just don't let the gf know that i'm dipping into 'the ring' fund to do it.

I can't believe I am seeing this post..

If I still have my 0078, I will be 100% attending.
the new owner of my R is not really into tracking the R..
if it's open to NON-ITR.. I think I will go with my NON-R NA1

Sad but true.
Sorry to see all your hard work and continuous aggrivation go to waste, though.
Trey, do as you see fit. Ed

I'm going - I just dont know if i can drive. i may NOT have my ITR by then, but would drive if I had it or drive the new car if it is capable and allowed.
Lots of people are uprooting themselves by moving, school, new careers, etc. Sucks that the turnout has been so low in comparison to last year.
I think we should have it and have the ITR owners who are attending INVITE others to join the expo drivers list. That's my good idea for the decade. You know, keep it in the family.

Especially since last year kicked ***
Trey,
I do apologize for not being able to make the Expo or to instruct. With a major project at work and most of my vacation going towards ECHC races, it leaves little time for anything else.

Which is why I won't miss it - no matter if I'm driving a Yugo or a Nissan Pulsar Type R....

If only I owned an R, I'd definately sign up
You people don't know what you are missing out on. There is a reason I've been to all three prior Expo's, it's a lot of fun, you meet new people, put faces with names, raise hell, and have a good all around time!!!
Brian
-who hopes the Expo will be around so he can make it four for four!

Hmmm - this is the same post I made last year, as people were slow to pay.
There are soooo many people who have posted that want us to have this event, but then nobody pays. I just don't understand it. Yoshi knows I cancelled (buy had paid) the first one because of a death in the family. The second I attended while being unemployed for the previous 4 months & another month after. Last year was the only one I actually had $$ for.
We all blow dough on funny things & I realize racing/hpde's aren't everyone's bag, but surely with as many people to "get excited" about the Expo, there are 80 Type R's that can drive.
**Footnote: I know some will get pissed at what I just wrote, but I know how much TIME, EFFORT, and MONEY Trey and others have put into building the ITRCA.com Expo...There are those of you with legitimate reasons not to drive & I wish you well - no hard feelings
(24 drivers have been registered - many for months - but not yet paid)

i'm down with still having the track day and inviting other hondas; we can call it the honda expo. it may not be all R's but at least we can all get together and hang out as friends.
The only way I would be going is if its open to other cars. Since my R disappeared, i'm not going to get another one. I'll prob wind up with a S2000 or E36 M3. I'll be happy to come to the expo with either if i can drive on the track.
Unfortunately with so many R's being Stolen, Crashed, etc. I knew from the beginning that Expo 3 would be hard to follow. I paid as a non driver. I would love to race but at this point the car is not ready for that type of abuse with my turbo setup. I say we still have it but have maybe only Integras allowed to Race. atleast it would be in the same family.
It will be sad if you cancel Trey. Expo 3 was one of the best times I have had in a long time.

nOOOOOO....
don't cancel it - I just paid, damnit!!!
Anyway, I'd rather see the event opened up to other vehicles rather than cancelled altogether (If it comes to that)... It's nice to have all R's, but if the turnout is too low, at least we can still have an event.
Last year kicked *** so much, and this year can be just as great, if you people would just SIGN UP DAMNIT!!! Even if you can't track your car, at least come and hang for a few days, you will regret it if you miss it....

I'll try my best to be there, But with the caR disabled, my back killing me and where I stand with my Job (on the fence). The only thing I can say Is I'll try...
Remember Trey, I still have 200 into the expo and need to send you the balance
I wish I had a better answer.
For those who are not in a focked up position like me, Sign the hell up and pay!
IT WAS SERIOUS FUN!!!
and Will be serious fun again!

i too am very very disappointed at the lack of follow through this year.
if you're in the registered but not paid situation then either get off your *** and pay or get your name removed from the list. i just don't buy this "i don't know if i can afford it" bullshit. it's 2 months away and you know what your income is. if you can't plan that far ahead with money then you prolly shouldn't be spending it on car stuff.
brian said it best that this is more than just a track event. which is why all the people saying they won't go because it was there last year is just bullshit. i'd be willing to bet that very few people who participated last year can say they had a better time at some other event.
trey - it's your show and your call and i'll support any decision. but my opinion is to have it anyway. we've had 3 of them so far and only one has been all R so there really isn't any tradition we'll be breaking. we've got the track and provided we get enough people to pay for everything why not?
lance ~ who's been saying for months that this will wind up being the last expo and certianly hopes that last year doesn't turn out to be last one.
