Skunk2 exhaust SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well i found out why my exhaust had a leak...the flange that bolts up to the rear of the cat is warped...and on top of that the welds on the rear of the resonator are totally broken loose....i called Skunk2 and they said that the welds shouldnt break unless you were doing some crazy dukes of hazard jumping and ****...but this car hardly ever gets drove let alone drove hard (and i am sure no one is stupid enough to try any DOH **** in their DC5)....anyone know anything about the Buddy Club exhausts? like sound and ****??? anything helpful would be nice. thanks in advance.
http://www.aj-racing.com has videos of the Buddy Club Spec III exhaust, one clip without the silencer and one clip with it.
How did the welds look when you installed it? The stainless welds on Jap exhausts are pretty good (I got Tanabe and Spoon) and for them to totally break would be unusual. Of course for them to break from DOH **** your pipes would be fucked up more than the welds.
As far as the flange, I'd assume if it was warped at time of install you would have noticed it. The only thing that would warp it when it was on is heat. Maybe after one of your hard redline canyon runs water got on it. This is weird. Keep us updated, Skunk is supposed to be a good brand.

actually to be honest i never paid attention to the flange so i couldnt be sure. but i do know that the car barely sees the rain (or any water on the road for that matter) and when i have to drive in the rain the car definately doesnt get run hard. but that doesnt mean heat didnt play a part in it...

yeah thats what i always thought. although i have come to find out lately that as far as Skunk2 goes, with their dealers and warehouses they dick around and it takes forever to get anything taken care of, and its suppose to be the opposite with their customers. but when a customer calls numerous times for several weeks just wanting to ask a few questions about their parts available or coming up and they dont respond, i guess they just didnt care too much...i am going to be faxing all my info to them monday so i will see how everything goes and keep you updated.

my skunk² exhaust broke both mounts on the muffler itself. even my stupid metal emblem on the tip has come off as well. the skunk² is not top quality. i am going to get a japanese exhaust when i get more money.

i installed a buddy club spec III exhaust on my friends DC5S, and it sounded sweet without the silencer. when we put it on, the note sounded like tin. he had it on for about 3 months, but we just took it off the other week, he got boned too many times for unnecesary noise tickets. it was too bate with the sound it was producing.. but all in all, very nice exhaust!!!!
btw it was a full buddy club spec III cat-back.

i have the dc5 BC spec3 cat-back on my ep. i leave the silencer on. the noise will get really annoying after a while. it's meant for the circuit and endurance races. the tone is very nice, but loud. i've had it for... 9 months. if you want the looks. go for it. if you want function and fashion? you can never go wrong with greddy. btw, they'll do better if you combo with headers.
so, if the cat-back systems get water absorbed, there's a possiblity the system will be warped?

i like the Skunk2 exhaust i haven't had any exhaust leaks. Although i have to agree with JDMRSXWHORE about the metal emblem mine burned off after a month.

id go with greddy. the new SP2 looks tiite. all of greddy catback systems sound tiite, look tiite, and gives perform gains. its not the best out there but a good all around system. cant go wrong with greddy.
thats wierd, my emblem is till on there and ive had the exhaust for 2 years. and i believe RS*R makes the skunk2 exhaust from what ive read. although i had no probs with my exhaust, i had alot of problems with my skunk2 manifold.. so yes, they are not a top quality company..
Oh and just to add more fuel to the fire, the brackets that come on the muffler they snapped off. I had to get them re-welded on to the muffler.
damn,..sorry to hear.
I loved my Skunk2 Exhaust on my old RSX-S.Sounded GREAT felt a tad better(w/ what little mods I had) never leaked on me.
I did always want the Power Getter.Didn't want to pay $900 as well as have to pick it up @ the airport.(back in 2002)

Got to say I'm a fan of my 5Zigen Fireball, specially after getting Hondata #4. I was going to get something a little louder (HKS or Powergetter) but the Hondata made my low near idle throatier. And when I gun it.. wow, race worthy. Mean mean mean!
Best $300 cat-back you can get.
