New S owner. Couple Q's for ya!
I recently purchased a used 2001 S2000 from my local Honda dealer. Got a good deal on a Berlina Black S. 45,008 miles. Lady driven with a clean carfax. Here are my questions:
What kinda of maintinence should I do on the car now that I own it? Fluid change, radiator flush, spark plug and wires, filters, etc....?
What kind of engine oil do you guys use? Coolant? Spark plugs(stock...but will have I/H/E very soon)? Diff fluid?
Here's are a few "problems". Looking to get your advice.
I have a small ticking coming from the head. I talked to a Honda mechanic friend, and he said he thinks it needs a vavle adjustment. Should I have that done? Is there anything else preventive or repair that could fix that? Is it a even a problem...and is it common among S2K owners?
I have a dragging/buzzing sound on occasion when I let of the gas and coast on gear. I'm not sure what it is. Is it something I should, and can, get fixed? How would I go about doing that?
Lastly, I have a small gap in my top...so I get a windy sound inside the car. I'm told that can be fixed by getting the OEM Hartop mounts. Is that the best way to fix the problem? What do most of your '00/'01 peeps do about this? I'm evetually going to get the Mugen hardtop...but I'd like to have a this softtop fixed.
I realize I'm asking alot in one post. I'm not new to the Honda world...just to the S. I've had 3 previous honda(2 with more than 300hp). But this one in the newest, best condition, and only RWD I've owned.
Thanks for the help in advance!
Steven
P.S. Any other advice/tidbits for a starting S2K owner would be great.
My goal is to partially build the motor(built head, rods/pistons), Vortech S/C with 20lb pulley, and a 35shot. JIC suspension. Wilwood braking. Minimal exterior mods.

if you still have your owners manuel, it lists the intervals for maintenance, follow the severe duty maintenance. Change your diff fluid every 10k miles with a premium grade synthetic gear oil, that's the only interval that I would follow rather than honda's recommended every 15k miles interval for the diff fluid.
You'll need to get a valve adjustment, make sure the tech performing it knows where to check the tolerance, it's not the same as b-series engines.
The gap in your soft top may be due to several things. When the top is closed, can you push down on where it meets the windshield to make the gap smaller? If so, then check your strickers to be sure they are on tight as the screws that hold them in place can get loose.
