Default finished my homemade turbo on 1.5 VX hatch.. 56K iffy..

so one day i imagined a turbo.. so i ran with it.

i figued my car had quite a few miles, but how many times has it stopped us before?

bone stock 92 EG hatch VX. and AC!, thats the best part!

we start out with the turbo, a punney little DSM T25. funky ebay BOV, a vortech FMU, missing link map sensor by pass, some "U" bend mandrel pipe, and shitload of free time..

so i could of always used a HF mani with a addapter plate, but that would mean no AC.. so i made my own out of stainless steel.. check it out.

and then my flange where the turbo will mount on the manifold.

sorry i don't have pics of the install of the intercooler, but we all know how they route them don't we?

ok.. so i put all the peices together, and there you have it.

so then i got me a free-bie boost gauge.. and a timer!

all in all.. its my 1st own personal turbo car.. (fan of nitrous, and still am) but it was surprizingly noticable power gains.. niiiiiice tourqe.

oh, and i know im gunna get flamed for this, so for all you hators.. lol, you can put turbo's on 200K + cars.. lol

oh and its set at 6psi with a sorta goofy adjustable actuator arm on the internal wastegate. works?

I don't know about running a turbo setup on a lean burn VX motor. What kind of management for the fuel? Throw a Z6 in it and you'll really enjoy it

Very curious how it feels with that VX transmission on there.

I used to think my VX was wimpy, but it's really the transmission. I destroyed my VX tranny [ISB went out and went through the gears/bearings] so I put a DX tranny in there. It actually ran pretty strong for a few months until I swapped in my B18.

yeah, its a tyrus IC... and i had to hack maybe 1/2 of the grille, but nothing else, not where fog lights woudl go or anything.. and i went under the washer bottle, worked out pretty good.

yeah.. lol the uni filter was for a dirtbike.. i went all over the place trying to find a K&N, but i got the same answer everytime "we can order it".. WTF.. no one stocks a universal generic cone style filter? so i hit up my local chaparelle and found my compact beauty.

ya know.. my buddy sporkcrx was thinkign the same thing about the tranny, and now im beguining to think he's right.. the tranny is a tad bit on the long side.. but the only reason im liking it, is the freeways are a breaze. but.. when its cold, the tranny fluid is cold, its having a hard time getting into gear and when i downshift 2 - 1.. sometime i have to double clutch.. so i might swap tranny's and i could use a clutch and TB.

and once i again.. dunno if this setup will ever see #'s.. lol its got mad miles, and once it blows.. i have a full B16 swap minus the tranny in my garage.

yes it is on the #3.. not 2. but the only reasoning in that, was if the flange was mounted on the #4.. i figured the O2 would be more benificial on the #3 runner.

You need to move that O2 sensor to after the turbo. If you leave it where it is, the pressure and extreme heat will kill it in short order.

Put it right after the turbo before the pipe goes under the car.
