Brake Issues: Volume 2
Per my previous post:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=802365
So the brakes still feel mushy sometimes. But what finally pushed me over the edge was driving my g/f's 2002 Lancer ES. It's a $#%ing Lancer ES with 23K miles on it and the brakes feel firmer and better than my car. WTF.
So I broke down and made another appointment at Basch Acura to have them take another look. I am determined to get the brakes back to feeling like they were when I bought the car.
If anyone feels like trying to diagnose the problem here are the symptoms:
- Pedal feels mushy a low speeds. Double pump tend sot help a little.
- Master cylidner was replaced with new OEM MC. Bench bled, etc.
- Using stock bleed screws and Goodridge SS lines. No leaks from inspection.
- Bled by Basch Acura using suction bleeder, and then traditional Helms style bleed to finish things off.
- At high speeds, when stopping, pedal feels great, very firm.
Will keep people udated in case anyone else is having similar problems.

Sounds like a problem with vacuum. Double check all your hoses for leaks.

you're having the same exact problems as myself.
Got one or two more things I'd like to try and if those things don't work, I'll just live w/ "effective but not so firm pedal feel"

Unfortunately, my similar issues were solved.
I had contacted Mark Basch and Andie Lin and Larry Bastanza.
Larry and Mark communicated about my issue and after the vigorous activation or the ABS, followed with a full bleed/flush with a one way check valve equipped bleeder bottle the issue is totally solved.
And I mean totally.
I no longer have any sink, or soft or mushy pedal after ingition.
To be clear though, It does sink minorly after the ignition is turned on but that is due to the brake booster and a normal thing But as it settles the pedal doesn't sink any lower and there is absolutely No need to double pump the brakes.
The brake pedal is actually back so high that I am having to relearn to heel-toe without fearing for my life every time.
This is strange because you felt the issue was solved the last time I spoke to you and Mark. Has the pedal actually sunk as time went on? Have you tracked or autocrossed the car since?
After investigating, I too have learned that this sink can also be attributed to the booster. Take off the vacuum line and check for vaccuum as the Helm's advises.
If it comes down to it, you could do what I saw suggested by someone in the RRAX forum and remove the booster altogether, but I'd find that impractical for daily use.
Best of luck and please keep us advised.
