Default California Bar on a Civic with a H22?

Anyone done this?
I don't want a B16 because of the lack of torque.
The B18's are pricey to say the least.
A H22 goes for roughly the same price as a B16 and has an ungodly amount of torque compaired.

I know about the handling and all of that other stuff but, if I can get Cali legal then I am gonna get an H22 if not, I guess my butt will be saving for years huh?

Just do what everyone else has done...wing it. Just pay off some smog shop to do it.

But...if you want to actually make it legit, it might be tough. I ran into your same problem. I wanted a swap, but the age of my car was a factor in how much the motor was going to cost. Obviously, the newer the motor, the more expensive it will be. The same thing is probably going to happen to you. Finding a 99-00 H22 is going to be a hassle. And when you do find it, the price will be that of a B18C1.

It's going to be an uphill battle if you try and find a motor that new.

But, I imagine, that if you do find one, you should be able to make it legit.

My suggestion. Try and piece together a B20z swap. That might be a little bit more cost effective if you ask me. Might be a little easier to find a newer motor too.

I found a 00 swap for 2600 That is why I ask. I really don't care about the handling so much, if it sucks that would be my excuse to upgrade the suspension fully

Wow..then I would jump on it. But..be sure that they do all the checks on it before you buy. Compression and all that jazz. Sounds a little cheap...but you never know.

Spade: You can make it legal. I'm in the same situation....and the ref told me that as long as engine is the same year or newer....and most importantly....all smog is hooked up properly....it shouldn't be a problem.

Actually, there is a difference between 92-95 and 96-00. The timing belt side and the rear tranny mount are different. You WILL need to get a 96-00 mount kit.

HCP sells a kit for you. You can call here and talk to Ron for more details and pricing. Tell him I sent you.
