My antenna all of a sudden has started to make a creaking sound right at the end of its descent. The last 3-4 inches dont go into the car, and a loud, annoying creaking sound results. Any ideas?

 

its stuck... it probably kept getting frozen and stuff in the winter time which caused it to loose its lubrication and possibly have gotten slightly bent. If you lub it and it doesnt go down then you would need to replace the antenna unless you dont mind it making noise.

 

or on its way going out.... might need a new motor for it soon.. happned to me already

 

this is like the most common illness of integras. the motor apparently goes out REALLY easily, so you will have to make a choice. you can either:

a) screw the antenna and just listen to your CDs all the time (which is what i did)

OR

b) replace the motor with a new one ( if you have the extra cash, do the s2000 antenna mod )

or you could just put up with the really annoying noise and have your antenna sticking up all the time like a little RC car

 

I have the same prob i was thinking of getting an s2k antenna will it work the same???

 

go with the s2k antenna,.....some say reception is worse, and some say better?....I use my cd-player so who cares!..-Roger

 

i unplugged my antenna b/c it was making a farting noise at the end of it going up. it pissed me off b/c it was like 4 months after i had the mast replaced and then the motor was going out.

how ironic, the same thing happened to mine just yesterday... sort of- my antenna won't go down unless I have a friend push down on it when I turn off the radio. Oh well, an excuse to get the S2k antenna
