Default limp mode? after obd2a-obd1 conversion need help!

got something kinda weird on my hands.. a friends clutch needed to be replaced and was starting to give him problems, so we took the tranny out and replaced the clutch, flywheel, pressure plate basically the whole 9 yards..

went to start the car and it it would not start, found the somehow the ecu had gotten fried while it sat at my house for a week waiting for parts, dont know how but the battery was dissconnected the whole time. the ecu would not shut off the fuel pump and kept flooding the motor to where it was hydrolocked, no big deal removed the spark plugs and shot the gasoline out the sparkplug cyniders.. got all the gas out tryed some new injectors that were layin around before we finalized it was the ecu..

so we decide to get a conversion harness and an obd1 p72 ecu, some friends had these parts layin around so it wasnt hard to get.. went to start the car and it started fine..

drives fine sometimes, sometimes not, really low idle, dies out sometimes at stop lights, and then sometimes the check engine light will come on and it will go into "limp mode" the car will not go any higher than 3000 rpms, we can shut the car off and it will go away sometimes, and everything is fine.. NO CEL at all.. i know its a good jumper cause it turns the cel light as well as the srs and abs light..

how do we diagnoise this problem?? i can probably get a obd2 scanner from a friend of mine but that doesnt do us much cause the ecu is obd1....

Car is a 99 Integra GSR
obd1 p72 ecu (worked in car we got it out of)
boomslang obd2a-obd1 converion harness
Fidanza flywheel
clutchmaster clutch and pressure plate

I would try the harness and ecu in another car. See if it is that harness or if you have something else going on that you didn't notice when you did the trans swap.

cool ill get my friends 97 hatch w/ a b16 to try this ecu and harness.. could the spark plugs be bad cause of all the gas when the engine flooded? we removed the plugs and let it air out and dryed the plugs.. would bad plugs cause limp mode? what triggers limp mode on any car??
