Default popping sound from intake

Hi I have a 94 vtec prelude with an aem cold air intake that has recently started making a popping noise. It usually does it after the engine revs to about 4000 and I have let off of it to shift. It is especially noticeable when it is under load like it is going uphill. Please help it is making me really nervous. I also have a greddy header and exhaust and I am running 93 octane fuel in it. Thanks.

Yeah I can tell that is where it is coming from and it kind of has that hollow sound from the intake tube. Maybe it has gotten out of time?

hmm check the Filter itself. If it's the filter that does it, it's normal....it's just sucking air and it's the normal noise it makes..

Well it just started doing it so I dont think it is the filter or something normal, it almost seems like it is backfiring through the throttle body. Thats what made me wonder if maybe it is the timing but it doesnt run like it is out of time... I dont know but it is freaking me out. Thanks for the help.

Isn't backfire when the cylinder itself doesn't fire but as it's traveling out the exhaust part of the car it fires then?

Have you done a compression check lately? It sounds to be like you are losing compression into your intake, either timing and just your valves are adjusted to tight
