eg is stranded...no spark?
My cousins civic was backing out of a parking lot yesterday and completely shut off. The car never showed any previous signs of anything wearing out. It ran perfectly. Car is a 95 sohc vtec. Did some checking around and the fuel pump primes, the relay under the dash clicks when you turn the key. Definitely has fuel. I just replaced the whole entire distributor with another one that is new. Car still continues to turn over and over and over. Just changed the plugs too. Dont know what else to do. Any opinions guys? I been searching today and yesterday on HT for any possible solutions and now im not sure what else to do.
check your coil , i was on the freeway when my coil burned out and the car gave its last poof and died
i just replaced it and it worked fine .

hmm...how should i test it? just to see if there's voltage going through it? should i use a voltage tester or just a test light to see if it works?

Try one more known working dizzy, and if it still doesn't work and you're POSITIVE that you have fuel, then I'll go out on a limb and say it'ds probably your ignition pigtail/electrical portion.
Test it like this:
Turn the key all the way until the car turns over, then back it off just enough to disengage the starter, then hold the key all the way in the cranking postion after the starter disengages so it's not grinding.
If the cars stays running with the key turned all the way, then you need a new ignition switch pigtail.
That's the only thing that could diable the car like that if you're certain it has fuel and a good dizzy, plugs, and wires, but no spark.
Also this might be out there, but does it sound normal when it spins over, or is it spinning faster than usual? If it sounds weird turning over it might have broken a timing belt.

Also isn't it possible for a loose ground or at least a ground getting a bad connection.

new plugs, new wires, new distributor........car turns over like normal.......it just makes no attempt at all to fire up...wires are in the right firing pattern...and timing belt is not broken...it turns along with the rotor in the distributor. When you ground a plug it emits a white-ish flame...sound normal? Car has fuel cuz i undid the line and it had pressure. I checked the tranny ground and engine ground and both were good. I checked all the fuses and relays too.
I just cant figure out what happened. He drove for like 40 minutes and stopped somewhere. Then he went to back out of his spot and the car just turned off as if someone turned the car off.....he tried starting it and its just turns over and over.
Sorry for asking in the EG forum guys...its just that the tech forum is slow and no one likes to reply for some reason.

Read my reply, and test the ignition switch as I explained in my previous post.
It's possible to get a **** dizzy even if it's new, so try one more from another car that runs and if you still get no spark then it's going to be that ignition switch pigtail more than likely.
