im usually nice, but i think the new mob of newbies coming in has put a bad attitude on most of the fequent users. im tired of seeing the same dam thing posted day after day when there are 23095721941949 achived topics about what ever it may be.

i hate the..

YO WERD I NEEDZ SOMe INFOZ ABOUT MI SIZZIT...

HEY YO I NEEDZ TO KNOW ABOUT LOWERING MY CAR...WHAT SHOULD I DO YO.

it just makes me mad that if they just read the guidelines they would know about search and then they could find the answers themselves without posting some dumb **** and getting flamed.

Its all good we are honda people and i give respect when someone comes up with good questions and people give good answers, but lately its just been alot of the same **** on here and im sure everyone is getting a bit pissy about it.

BTW... this should be in GDD not in the CRX forum...is there anything about CRX or EF Civic on this topic...no.

Ok, I agree that we all need to be somewhat civil but when someone is asking a questiion that has been answered once a day for the past 2 years it gets old. So if your about to ask a stupid question Please use the search function...that is why it's there and also please read the FAQ's, chances are you will find your answer. If not then post your question. When someone does ask a question that has been answered I always tell them to search and provide a link with the answer.

the sad thing is...that most of the topics posted that I see people get flamed for and told to search... aren't really searchable. I sit on HT basically all day with my unemployed self and I search the **** outa stuff. There are so many damn unanswered questions or half answered questions, or answers that are in no way relevant etc. Yes, there is a lot of info to be found in the archives etc, some things obviously like "Can i fit a b16 into my crx" are in need of being searched, but there's so many posts that get flamed when someone has already searched a ton

also, most of the posts are given stupid titles like, "Has this been done?" or "check this out" not "whats the <instert item> specs for a 88 CRX HF" etc... It sucks when you search for topics and 99% of them are responded by someone saying "search noob!" How are we to get answers if it's never been answered at all?

A little off topic, but is it just me or has there been a lot of questions recently regarding what harness to use with what motor and what ecu to use.......it like the same question being asked but no one looks at the other threads before they ask. I think it would save some time and effort if some people would just look before they post....there is so much info floating around here.

Yeah there are a few people that **** me off on this site. I wont name anyone, but i wish i had my own personal ban button. I usually dont let newbies upset me because I can remember back when I was a newbie getting points deducted from total and i had no idea why. I was never warned or anything and points were just dropping...i dindt get it. So i didnt even come to the site for like a year.

Then i came back and now i enjoy it. If a newbie asks a question and i can answer it, its almost gratifiying knowing i made their day.

I would assume we would want more people on this board...not to scare everyone away.

But i do haate newbies that come in acting like they know everything...those people need to be put down.

And then you get the occasional post ****** who post stupid replies and have 500 posts a week. Its like they are A.D.D and have nothing better to do with their lives.

Overall people just need to be patient with eachother. If you are annoyed of the post go to another one. Whats the point of telling someone to search when in the same amount of time you could prolly give him the answer. Then maybe if you want, tell them to search next time.

Well all know what its like to run into a problem and quickly want an answer, so people are post happy, and dont take the time to search.

anyways, i guess that was my words or rant and wisdom i have learned being a member here.

As for responses; it seems like some of us are overly ready to toss out that "try a search" comment. I've done searches and for what ever reason, didn't find a string that covered it. Then posted the question just to have somebody else tell me the location of the answer. So, maybe it's that the search funtion is too "key word" sensitive, I don't know. I just don't flame anybody real quick about it.

As commented on in one of the prior posts, what really gets me is distorted English!! Heck, I make spelling errors (and the old fingers mess up on their own), but I don't understand why an individual would want to look like an idiot when asking a question.

Go go along with the search funtion i hate the fact it doenst cover words with 2 letters. Needs to be 3 or more. Alot of my questions involve the word "LS" or something short like that. Limits the search alot. And takes alot of time.

yeah I agree with most everybody here, sometimes there are n00bs or even members that have been on this site for awhile asking for the most stupid ****.

I myself have asked a few dumb questions in my day and really didn't know what was up either when I was a damn trial user with the Jackass avatar. But truth is I try not to flame anymore cuz I feel the info I learned thru this site and fellow members should be passed on to n00bs with the dumb questions since we all had to learn them one way or another right? So might as well give them an intelligent answer rather than a pissy remark like check this link >>>>>>>>>>>

The thing that I hate is that it is not even nessasary to explain to the person to search, if you dont like the topid dont reply telling someone to search just so you can add up your post's...

I agree with this.
I have been on the HT for a long time now and I have hardly started any threads because ALMOST all of my questions have already been answered. If its about a Honda/Acura it has most likely been covered. A lot of people just need to learn how to use the search function, not just try and use it.

I'm a newbie here but not a newbie to EF and honda by anymeans. I'm trying to make sure no one is passing out misinformation and online BS....

Hope that I can positively contribute to this site.

Speaking as a Newbie who tries to search, it drives me nuts when I do a search and get 20 hits and 19 of them are people screaming search. Plus its nice to hear from new people who have also figured out the answer to my question. Maybe one of the people who didn't answer the thread from a year ago has a different cure for my problem.

If everyone is going to slam people for asking questions that have been answered, why have a bulletin board? We could just get by with a library.

I also agree with the 2 letter search thing too. I look for LS or HF stuff all the time what a PITA! Also when it cuts off too common words.

Good site though,
Could be a little friendlier and it could use less people that answer questions with the wrong info.
But that goes with any internet site.

I agree wholeheartedly with what you've said, Darrick, and now I'm wondering if we as a community can make something change. There is obviously agreement on this issue, and with that in mind, would it be possible to change the type of search engine this forum uses? keithv, what would it take to make that happen? Can't we steal google's search engine and limit it to information within this site like some of the other large websites out there? Or do we have to pay tribute to Google?

Also, could we make another rule about how to reply to stupid questions? Something like...if you tell them to search or call them a newb, you get points taken away?

How does everybody feel about this?
