EDIT: WHERE GLOVES BEFORE YOU START!!! this stuff burns

1. take rims off.
2. Brush on "Jasco" Stripper, the smaller 'ecu' size can is plenty(this can be purchased at lowes in the paint dept, also dont worry about cleaning the rim, Jasco will eat it off." Let sit for 15-30 minutes. scrap off all the paint and junk that bubbles off with a metal scraper(plastic will melt).and wipe excess of with paper towels. Use fine grit sand paper also, it helps. Also wear gloves, safety glasses and a long sleeve shirt!! this stuff burns the instant it touches you.
3. Use steel wool(coarse). this helps too.
4. Repeats step 1-3 til the paint on the wheels is completely off, bare metal.
5. Use steel wool to start polishing the lip and the rims, i used the assorted pack, start with coarse end with fine.
FOR PAINTING WHEELS WITH A POLISHED LIP.
6. Mask off the outer lip area and paint the wheels whatever color you want.
7. Clear coat the middle.
8. take off masking tape .
9. go back with steel wool and get off and excess paint on the outter lip.
9. Use mothers polish to bling out the outter lip, the more you polish the more bling you get.
10. sit back and have a beer.
11. Take pics and post them on *********** and honda-tech.com, don't mind the flamers.

TIPS: use a metal can to put the jasco stuff in, if you use plastic it will melt.

EDIT: i have just done another set of wheels...if you buy "Jasco" paint remover in a spray can, you can spray it on and then let it sit til it bubbles (15-20 minutes) then take a pressure washer (no a regular hose wont work) and blast off all the paint. this way it isnt as messy. continue with steps 4 on.

Those look good , so you just by that jasco stuff and then spray it on and let it sit for 15-20 and then spray it off with a pressure washer you you will get that shine?

 

to get the actual bling you have to polish it up with MOTHER'S Polish. its hella work tho...

yup steel wool gets the job done pretty well, it comes in coarse=sanding, medium=buffing, fine=shining.

i used duplacolor car paint 'banner red'.

 

What if say i wanted to polish my lip and the wheels were new but wanted to leave the center finish intact. Do you guys think if i tape off the rest and use paint remover it will protect it enough? Or should i sand off the paint. Opinions please

 

I dont think you coudl do that man, I think the stripper would still go under the tape and eat the paint and you wouldnt get a nice line

damn that looks like alot of work. Nice looking rims though! How long did it take you to do all four rims? I was wanting to do mine also, but don't have the pateint to sit and scrub

Off topic, but is that a CTR rear lip painted flat back. If so, do you have any other pics?

 

I just cant see steel wool getting a nice finish, like its steel on steel, to me I think it would leave many scaratches.

Has anyone else done this?
