OT: New Dyno in NoVA!
Curry's Auto Service, a well known european car repair facility and SCCA roadracing shop near Dulles airport, has just installed a dynamometer. And the prices are apparently great (3 pulls for $50, not sure about hourly). I got this email from shop owner Matt Curry yesterday:
Hey Jon, the rumors are true! We have a brand new, state-of-the-art, 2WD/AWD Mustang Dyno. it is a single roller, in ground, dyno w/eddy current, full diagnostic capability, 5 gas engine analyser, fuel pressure sensor, EGT sensors, O2 probe, turbo boost sensor, etc., etc. It's a very cool, one of a kind machine. It has full data aquisition. It even allows us to do 1/4 mile and 1/2 drag pulls.
Check out their website at http://www.currysauto.com or email the owner, matt@currysauto.com, for more info. I'm sure he would be happy to hook people up for a group deal of some kind.
I just thought the DC area folks would like to know... no, I don't work there, I just think it's great to see more places in the mid atlantic performing advanced engine tuning.

Re: OT: New Dyno in NoVA! (nojrecar)
I got a free trial run. Then again I spend a fortune there, so it's the least they can do
159 at the wheels. LOL. My engine was so crappy before I blew it up. Might as well build it up the right way this time. The Mustang dyno also reads very low on torque. It said mine maxed at something like 105 ftlbs, which is no where close to what a dynojet would say. So, if you're trying to tune your car, just make sure it's the same dyno every time.

I find it hugely ironic that something with the brand name "Mustang" can "read very low on torque"...
