z6 tranny on y7
Okay gentelmen, I'm aquiring a Z6 tranny in a couple of weeks and need to put it on my y7 (clutch is dying now). I will need a new clutch either way. Can I order a clutch now (with my y7 tranny) (which motor/tranny to get it for) and then swap it over to the z6 tranny? I would love to just wait but I don't think with as much driving as I do it's going to make it.
Somebody let me know please.
Yes I know I'll need to swap the flywheels too or have the Z6 one resurfaced.
EDIT: Also, can I put the stronger shift fork out of the y7 tranny into the z6 tranny without breaking it open? I know jack crap about trannies.

Another question similar to this, I can get the head off of the z6 as well. I could slap that on my y7 block and still run an OBD2 ecu correct? The p28, as there are no sensors on the head.
Clutches and flywheels are the same part number for all 96-00 Civics. I do not forsee any problems at all.
Also, the clutch mounts to the engine not the tranny, same with the flywheel.
No, you cannot change the shift forks without opening the tranny.
You can stay OBDII with the Z6 head if you get a EX ECU, wire up the VTEC sensors, and get a Z6 distributor wired for the OBDII P2P ECU.

God your my hero Gabe!! I  you!!
Okay, after deciding on a ClutchMasters, I need some help with what stage I should get. I have a turbo y7 and need something that will hold 200ft/lbs or more. I can't find any real information on CMs webpage other than 70% over stock. 127 (all part no.s the same for the 96-98s, so I guess they're running off of the EX numbers) * 1.70=215.9, but that doesn't leave me much room to upgrade. I NEED a sprung hub and am trying to stay away from a pucked clutch, but how is the stage 2 any better over the stage 1? I see that it's carbon kevlar vs. the organic, but is it really worth the extra 150 bucks?
