Anyone put CTR pistons in there b16a2 with the stock rods?
Anyone put CTR pistons in there b16a2 with the stock rods? Would like to know this before I do this to my set-up before I mash some valve into the pistons and can I use the stock Pr3 rings on the CTR pistons?. Also I have a Gsr head on with the b16a2.
you really shouldnt reuse your old piston rings on the new ctr pistons. and also you can definitely put CTR pistons on stock rods. obviously aftermarket rods would be best but you can get away with stock rods, arp rod bolts and still rev to 8.5-9k. (sparingly
)if your head is worked

to fit the pistons on the rods, they will need to be shaved to fit at a machine shop. also, do not use the old rings, you won't get a good seal. by the way, the rings for the b16a and b16b are the same. so, you can buy a set at your local dealership.

Ok good, thanks of the infomation. I have new rings from total seal that I was going to use for my pr3 but I just want to know. Because I didn't know that b16b and b16a rings where the same.
Also will the machine shop know the measurements for the shaving between the rod and pistons?
Another thing to my head be ported and polished with jun spring and crower retainers with stock valves. Ya! Fun!
