wow its not even bolted on anymore. is that an aftermarket rear swaybar or did you just paint the oem one? if its aftermarket, you should be using a mounting kit. maybe that accelerated the tearout. that is really bad rust, fix it asap.

where do u live? honestly I would sell the car buy something else

once rust infect the system its alsmost impossible to remove, even if u sand eevrything off repaint it will come back, only sure way is to cut around it, reweld a new piece of metal and paint, and you can;t do that to the whole subframe.....

do you really think thats worth the effort?

I mean have you nivested that much into it? I would try to bring it back to stock, does it look nice from the outside? try to sell it then just look for a new one and swap all the parts into the new one.

I have 140k miles on my 1995 integra, and I dont have 2% of the amount of rust I saw in those, the work alone, welding everything back will cost an arm and a leg, if someone decided to take on the job

try to take it to show places, see if the cost is worth the investment, and if its not your decision is made.....sorry man trying to be realistic

To put it kindly your fuct, I work at a large body shop doing heavy collision repair, and estimate for that is going to set you back ATLEAST a grand. Could you buy that piece from a junkyard? sure, but someone without atleast 5 years expiriance shouldnt jump into it. My advice would be to sell it, my frame on my EF was so rusted the camber of the tires wis literally like this //-=-\\ and on a car like that its not worth fixing it. How long have you had the car? was it in a accident and damaged anywhere near that spot? If so you could bring it back to the shop and they should fix it for you free of charge.

the sub frame CAN be replaced. if you search the Archived content there was a user who ripped out the sub frame (due to the sway bar) and later got it replaced with a stronger unit (type r).

so if you due plan on replacing it i would def look into getting a type r sub frame.

and it looks like the way you had the sway bar installed help cause the frame damage.

I'm almost 100% positive that was a subframe tearout from (I'm guessing) an improperly installed sway bar. I guess it just got bad and started to rust. Anyway, like one guy said it's going to be pretty pricey to fix, but it is doable. I can't see to clearly in the picture (and I don't remember my Integra exactly), but the subframe isn't a "major" portion of the frame, meaning it isn't this huge thick piece of metal. Replacing/repairing it won't be hard, but it won't be cheap.

Go to some body shops and see what they say. I'm estimating about $1000....I have a couple of friends who work at body shops.

yep... subframe tear out...

rust is the least of your concerns. Go to a reputable bodyshop that can do quality aftermarket modifications.

they will section in the piece that is rusted but good luck finding anyone to do it, no shop with decent techs and cars to work on is going to take a rust repair job, let alone a structural piece that is surrounded by 3508754 other rusted pices. sell the car if you dont mind screwing over other people or total it if you are smart, a car like that shouldnt be on the road.
