Turbo or supercharger???
I have a 97 base model that im modding. Havent got as far as forced induction yet and I plan on autocrossing. What would be the best setup? What other things would I have to upgrade say fuel system wise if I got a belt driven supercharger. And the cost difference. Which would give me more bang for my buck??
turbo would give more top end power. supercharger more low end torque. with the super you still have to upgrade your fuel system. both the turbo and the supercharger cost about the same.

u might want the supercharger if you auto-x, because if you go through the trouble of turbo'ing the thing you wouldn't want a itty bitty turbo, but you'd feel like it was a waste if you spent all that money and didn't put down 400whp. on the flipside, turbolag on the course is a biotch.
competing in SM would be a challenge...

greddy turbo kit .. fast spool up, no turbo lag, good power thru entire band, doesnt wiegh to much either.
not too much power so you will break traction during auto-x and not too little power so that its not worth the money.

A properly sized turbo can have very little turbo lag and way more potential then a supercharger. You can piece a custom turbo kit for cheap. But I also see alot of used SC on ebay for ludes that are a good deal to.

depends on how much boost you want to push. i have a supercharger on my prelude and it puts out around 8 psi with the crank pulley i have. it's got awesome low end torq and feels great. the fuel system stuff comes with the kit and i like it alot. but if you want a lot of boost and a lot of top end power then turbo is a good way to go.

ok dumbass detonation is when two flame fronts collide inside the combustion chamber, its caused by heat and improper ignition timing.
pre ignition is when there is a flame front before the spark

If the timing is off it doesn't matter what kind of setup you have. You originally stated it's because of "real hot intake temps" of superchargers.
