Here is a pix of some Carrillo rods I'm using in a motor build. They are called their A rod series. These are for a GSR. They are made from the same blanks as the high dollar H Carrillo Rods and made in the USA. The difference is they are made on a CNC machine with only 20% of the machining operations as the expensive Carrillos. They use a 5/16" WMC5 bolt and they are torqued to 38lbs. They weigh 417 grams and are factory balanced. Not inexpensive however as they run close to $700 but much cheaper than the H beams

If I were to spend over 1000 on rods I might as well put a few more $$$ and get Crower Titaniums

 

they are nowhere near the strength of a pauter, but are very light and would be an excellent choice for all motor or a street car. high quality rod. i had a set once.

Are you sure about that? Carrillo rods are the best, but unfortunately also the most expensive. I would like to see someone brake these rods.

yeah i'm sure. the beam width is only .400 thick and the web of the beam is only.080 thick. why do you think they weigh 417grams as opposed to the 550g of the pauters. have earl give you a side by side comparison.

btw detonate hard a few times and carillos or not... they will break.

Any news on the A-Beams. I just purchased a set for my Mazda Miata. I run abround 350-400hp on boost and make around 460-480 with a little N20. I was talking to Carillo this morning and they mentioned that the A-Beams will work for my application.

I did ask about the H-Beams and I was told they are for MEGA power, 750+Hp.

To the person who broke a rod.. It seems you had some detonation issues.. Am I correct?

I have used Pauter and Crower in the past, but neither have any Mazda Miata Rods in stock and I can't really wait 8 weeks, nevermind longer if they don't deliver on time. Would of like to purchase the H-Beam, but $$s are a problem.

I know Carrillo has always been deemed to make an amazing rod and the A Beams are supposed to be only 20% weaker than the H-Beams.

 

Carrillos are very very good rods!!!! As said above it has been known to be the BEST, many rod manufacturers basically copied Carrillos H Beam design. Now true someone has broken Carrillo rods before and that would be Jotech, when tony1 was working for them he mentioned in the past they had actually broken a Carrillo and then they swicthed to the Pauters and haven't heard of a failure since then. Also they broke Crowers in the past too BUT BUT BUT remember this is Kenny Tran and Jotehc we are talking about and they are making INSANE AMOUNT of horsepower. I would've boght some Carrillo BUT I believe they actually didn't have a B16A rod listed. I have Pauters and love them.

I stand corrected I see they have an application for a B16A also. The place I ordered my Pauters from also had Carrillo and did not have a B16A listed though. Maybe I was looking for an LS application for a freind at the time since they don't have one listed

 

I was told that Kenny and Jotech have broken some Pauters and are now currently using Manleys.
Im still undecided on what rods I will be using. Those Carillos like pretty nice though.
