Civic Theft Advice
Hi, I am in a deboffle right now, I love my civic and right now I am torn between keeping it and running boost soon, or selling it. One of my biggest fears is that my car is going to get stolen. For security I have a prestige alarm, a removable wheel which I lock the column and remove it when parked in a shady area. There is no power steering on the car so I dont know how someone could drive it. My questions is do you guys think this is enough to prevent theft, or do you guys know of any other tricks or security options. Thanks. Oh and here is few pics to get the idea.

Re: Civic Theft Advice (CivicGSR225)
It's sad to say but no matter how hard you try to prevent theives it all comes down to how bad they want it. Whether it's jacking your cd's, stereo, radar detector, and loose change in the cup holder to putting your car on blocks and taking your rims. If someone wants it bad enough then they are going to get it....
Overall though I think that what you have going should work just fine as long as you are not parking it down in the ghetto.....

if your interested in keeping your car safe.
1. dont tell us what alarm you have or anyother security features
2. dont post your photos of your car or anything about your car especially on cardomain.
3. layer your security, and remember it only takes someone taking a connector off your brain to disable your alarm.
4. place your brain behid your gauge cluster and wrap all the wires in metal. then wrap the metal with black eletrical tape.. this secures your alarm system.
5. and get yourself a boot.....
the biggest mistake people make is showing everyone their car.. you think your the only one in your neighborhood??? i see tons of guys on this forum around my neighborhood they just dont who i am........hope that helps....
oh and the removable steering wheel is nothing i can drive it away just as easy with it on.... and breaking your ignition column is only secs away.... remember layering is key to keeping your car... and a boot is key to keeping your car where you parked it...
and the first thing i would take is your seats... it only take 3 minutes with a rechargible makita or sears drill and those seats are mine.....

Re: Civic Theft Advice (itsm3paul)
i had a jdm mugen wheel and jdm mugen solid hub.. and i was able to drive away easily.. .. and most people have the 3 spoke hubs and not the solid ones which only makes it easier to turn the wheel... i should have made a video, but i didnt want to show the whole world... but yes it is easy... even without the power steering ,because once the car moves i can turn the wheel...
and the autolock it only takes a hammer to the base of it to knoci it off pivot...<<<< pivot is key to the autolock working properly...and most dont have it on all three corners....

Every little theft-deterant mod you do on your car helps. But thieves can always break in and steal what's inside or simply tow the whole damn car away.
The best anti-theft precaution to take would be to garage your car and get a 12-gauge shotty. Say a thief breaks into your garage; ask him to step away from your car (so that his blood will not splatter on it), then blow his head off. You won't get sent to prison either!

i was wondering if it was true that if you turn ur wheel all the way over in any which direction you choose and your steering wheel locks. is it impossible for a thief to get it out of lock with out the key?

yeah when you have the key out the wheel locks after trying to turn it but when the theive breaks the ignition column it breaks the locking thing and the wheel is free again with no key

my 93 non power steering has a lock.. and it only takes a heavy duty screwdriver and your weight to crack of the ignition to unlock the lock... so turning it all the way left or right doesnt nothing... because its buit into the ignition switch that attaches to the column. once its broke it separates from the column thus making the steering whell fre to turn... and its made out of cast aluminum /or cast of some brittle material. so it is easily broken off with the right tools..

Re: Civic Theft Advice (CivicGSR225)
hell.. all you need is a garage my friend.
and deadbolts for your garage.. All my friends that have garages with integras and civics have no problems (and no they dont' all live in irvine)..
Just make sure it's locked up in there safely..
And i heard that there's these alarm systems with keychain attachments that can recieve signals from your car's anti-theft device in the case of a break-in..
that way, when you're sittin in class, and you hear that 1st *BEEP* comin from ur keychain.. yOU KNOW WASS UP!
WOOOSH!! you rush to the scene (the parking lot) AND BAM* BAM* BAP! BAP!** BAP!!
GET THEM THEIVES!.

for starters, stop showing your car. stop telling people where you live. next, a fuel and igntion kill switch(es) is a good addition. layers are key. but if they want your car, they'll get it.

Re: Civic Theft Advice (jwn7)
Have anyone ever thought of a computer power supply kill or a distributor kill? Ignition Starter and fuel pump kills are the first things that are gonna be looked for. Just an idea.
