Default Level Ten

Hello everyone. I have a 97 SS and the tranny died and im getting it rebuilt. a new one is too much and a 5-speed swap is too much work. I found a high performance rebuild kit and torque converter made by a company named "Level Ten" I cant seem to find any information on them other then what is on theyre site. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about them or if its worth the money for the kit. the rebuild kit is 380 and the torque converter is 498, pick your own stall speed (what should i chose?). Any info or links anyone has would be awesome.

Level 10 is a joke.. I would only buy the rebuild kit.. The TC you cannot buy you have to send yours in for service.

For 300 bucks you can buy a TC without the core and the stall will be at 800 to 1000 rpm unlike the level 10 that only goes up to 200 rpm above stock.. Let me look for the company that Im buying the new TC from. and I will let you know who to call.

You will need a new TC i can get you one for 300 bucks. Its 800 to 1000 rpm over stock.. You will take off alot quicker and you will save at least a half a sec off your time.. Let me find out some info.. TC service sucks *** from level 10 and the rebuild kit you can get anywhere.. Only thing i would get is the pts rebuild and manual to show you how to rebuild your trans.

will it change anything else? i dont necessarily wanna get launched everytime i take off. id like to do it myself but then i would have no warrantty and my car is already in a shop. i can just get the stock one, dont need to rebuild one unless changing the stall speed is necessary

didn't level 10 go out of business after the class action lawsuit? anyways, i've heard the rebuild kits are pretty good on our ss's. and i heard mixed reactionsabout the tq converter... some say itsn ot worth it if you're rolling stock, some say its good with higher hp. good luck on rebuild.

i think me and the posters are thinking the ame thing.. i dont want to be running around and my car be sitting at 2k and me jerking everytime i take off.. if i am at a light i dont want to be reving at 2k and be like slamm ever time.

jsut something with more responsor and less lag.. so when you go , you go..

u are talking about idle...a TC allows u to put your foot on the brake ad rev up to around 1200 rpms, the TC will allow u to rev up to probably around 2000, so u can launch better. Normal everyday driving will not change.

the lawsuit was for them having shitty products.. but its really not cause its shitty, its really cause they didn't last 400hp. it was mainly from the supra owners. i think like 50-100 pple filed for it cause u know the level 10 saying "make a bullet proof tranny" but these tt supra's can push well over 400hp (which is the maximum a level 10 tranny can hold) with just a few bolt ons.. anyways, class action lawsuits take years.. and this was about 2 years ago.. so they might still be 1: fighting it in/out of court 2: settled 3: court threw it out. dunno havetn' stopped by the supra forums in awhile.

the tc should no way affect ur daily driving... but it'll help with ur "launches" like makavelli said... for some reason, the ss ludes can't do a "burn out" without neutral bomb, ,where as some other autos' they can just brake and rev and release brakes and they can burn some tires... dunno...

we had called level ten to get a tranny done through them, and they said that once they are done with it, that they don't gurantee it, if it doesn't shift properly its on you!

You said that a new Auto tranny was too much for you. Im presently doing a manual swap and when my auto comes out you could buy it off me
Its still perfect, absolutly no problems. Only reason its comin out is to make room for my manual tranny

Well from my personal experience, I had the level 10 rebuild kit and sent that out for cry treating. My car shifts pretty damn good. DO NOT HOLD THE BRAKE and try to accelerate. This will mess up your tranny.. I used B&M synthetic trick shift. My car launches pretty hard. The run ability is great.. Everyday driving is good. Only draw back is that it shift very quickly. For people with little or no mods I would stay away from this. Im boosted and it works great for that..
