Default Cooling problems!!!!

ok first of all i just did a h22a swap into my 95 se. ok well yesterday my fans were comming on but not when ii shut the car off, they use to pop on for like 10 min when i shut it down with old motor.

so today im driving home from school and i notice the temp is rissing so i flip the heater on and cruise at about 50, then the temp goes back to normal till i get to a light, then it starts rising again so i idle down the street and take it easy to my house, getting up to about 3/4 on the gauge.

i replace the thermostat and flushed out the system and found out that switching on the ac makes the fans turn on. so i decide to make sure the new parts worked. but first i let it heat up in the garage and it went to 1/2 temp and wouldnt go any higher. but the fans wernt kicking on.

so needing a way to get to school tommorow i take it out to see if it heats up with the az turned on so fans work at lights, alls good for about 10 min till i give a little bit of gas. then it starts rising really rapidly. i keep coasting down the road at idle and it raises to right above 3/4.

i then shut the car off while still rolling then i fliped it back to unlock the steering wheel and it say temp is at 1/4, this is all in 30 sec time. what could cause all this,

oh yeah i have a CEL and when break out the paper clip it doesnt work ,4bidden has told me how to do it and i did it exactly the same way. but no little flashing. any help is really appriciated, i hope i gave good enough info, if i left any info out that u need please ask!! TIA

That happen to my H22 too. I then had repaced the thermostat and radiator cap. The car runs under normal temp now. It says that you changed the thermostat but not the radiator cap. That can also be the problem as well. The radiator cap does go bad every now and then. If that doesn't work it might be your fan switch or water pump or even a bad radiator. Look at the radiator cap and press the spring to see if that is hard. If not, than it might be one of the aboves. Check the cap. Let us know the outcome. May the force be with you.

the cap isnt hard and my car has 135000mi so i think the radiator souldnt be bad, the think is it didnt heat up at a light which it would be the fan it was going about 80mph then 30 sec later it was at 1/4 temp!

135000 is a lot. Plus it came from another car to be put in yours. You never know what condition those swap came in.

Let the car idle with the radiator cap off. When the fan turns on watch and see if the coolent level gos down in the radiator.

The fan never turns on, never? Even if you let the car(engine) idle for 20min?
