If this is for real its great, but I'd definitely protect my money until I got the kit and inspected it. If it seems too good to be true.....

 

I would ask if any HT members in his area would be so nice as to check it out in person. I saw a great deal on a drag kit someone in Austin was selling. I asked if I could drive up (I'm in San Antonio) and check it out. He never wrote back.

 

Yeah, you need to have someone check it out first. I just got shafted for $800 for a trubo kit off thepartstrader.com. I sent the guy half the money, he was suppose to send me the kit COD for the othe half of the money. That was a month ago, and still no turbo kit............so be careful d00d

damn bastards...I did it before for someone from other boards, I went up the the guy's house, his mom answered the door, and here I am with my shirt and tie ( I just got off work) and I talked to her and explain what happened, she called him up, he was prolly 18 at the most...and he admit the whol thing right then and there, her mom was so scared about the being prosecuted and *****, she paid it back...it was about 200ish..

but yeah, I'll go with art...at least let him know that nobody can get away from this type of shiets..

 

OOh one more things.....when doing COD, don;t prepaid a lot of cash in advance...

the only legitimate reason on why anyone asked for cod is to make sure that you as the buyer will not refuse the package and make the shipper paid freight cost for nothing.

so technically, I always just to offer shipping charges ONLY in advance...and if the seller refuses to do it, then the deal is off.....

you could be saving 20 bucks 50 bucks 100 bucks here and there, but, once he ripped you off, it's over...pay more and at least have the peace of mind on not getting ripped..

Is this kit still for sale? I tried to get the guy to do escrow about a week and a half ago. He said that someone paypaled him and it was sold.

 

This is what taht guy told me. I ask for his address so I can come up and inspect it but no response. Then after a few days he email me back sayin it was sold. So ummm okay whatever probably some scam!!! Watch out HT

Yea you guys have the right idea. You worked hard for your money, don't go throwing it away at scam artists. Always, always make sure a deal is legit before handing over your hard-earned money.

Well I called the dude, and guess what? The first time I called, one of his roommates said that he doesn't see him that often, but he'd prolly be around before 12 noon. Well just to an *** I call again around 8, and some chcick answers the phone telling me a micheal doens't live there. I was like WTF? I saud "Are you sure? Your roommate said otherwise". Then she changed her story, "Oh yeah, michael did live her along time ago". I told her it couldn't have been too long ago...........repeated the deal that had gone on............she told me he had written bad checks to lots of people. I told her not to be surprised if people coming looking for money soon............She also said that she had his drivers license and allot of his mail, and that he wasn't getting it back until, blah blah blah........Still sounds kinda fishy to me......what do you guys think?

Glad I could help, just do it right and buy a kit.........cough cough from Ben cough cough.........don't have to worry about used broken **** or scam artists. If you do buy a used kit make damn sure it's local that way you can take you money outta thier **** if they don't keep thier end of the bargin......

 

I saw a deal on a kit in N Florida - guy was emailing me etc. When I offered to drive up and look at the kit (4 hr drive) it was somehow immediately "sold".

Seen enough people get ripped off - gotta be real cautious unless u see it in person.

I talked to this guy too. He sent me his paypal account name. I was this close - - to buying it...I'm glad I didn't, I asked him to use an escrow service as well. He replied " what you got screwed using paypal? Please tell me how." Then in a message about 20 min. later..
he put "so I can protect myself." I don't know. If you use paypal can't you get the cash back if you post a complaint?
