Default Is this a Type R head (NEW PICTURE ADDED), want to ensure before purchase........

The pic is off to the side (sent by seller) so i cannot make any judgement about whether it is a legitimate type r head. If anyone can confirm it, I would greatly appreciate it.

the guy apparently sent the wrong pic, here's a new pic taken tonight.

Almost impossible to tell from that pic... try to get a pic of the ports, and the code on the exhaust side of the head.

From there it looks like any dohc/vtec

NO!

That is a P72 head. Not a PR3 head.

You can tell because of the coolant pipe is straight. PR3 heads have an angled coolant pipe.

PR3 coolant pipe:

So it isn't a type r head after all. I thought the price was too cheap. thanks for the information.

Not an ITR head, pass it up and keep looking.

Casting number ( PR3-X ) has no relevance to vehicle make or model. It is either a B16/B17/ITR head. You cannot tell what car its made for...

It either a JDM gsr head or a JDM itr head... the water neck from the upper radiator hose to the head is in the wrong place to be a usdm head (the water neck is under the Dizzy in this pic)

see the water neck in this one... its in the front of the head(under the vtec solinoid) not the middle. This is a usdm P72

So basically I can't tell anything from the one pic at the top??? I'm gonna ask about the green paint on the exhaust side of the head today? I guess it's too hard to tell if the ports have been polished (which comes stock on the itr heads??).......

ITR port bowl work. You can see how it's been worked about an inch or two into the bowl from the valve seat.

The green paint may have been washed off. This is a pic of my roommate's ITR head (same as above of the ports) that was hot tanked.

Again, casting number has no relevance to vehicle make or type. The ONLY difference on the head itself is minor porting on the innards of the intake ports, other than that, they are exactly the same casting as a B16/B17.
