Default BG44K fuel injector cleaner, CEL 10, Car bogging when you press the throttle?

On the suggestion of others on honda-tech, I added some BG44K to my fuel tank at my fill up. Everything was going fine until I got home parked and came back thirty minutes later. The car was idling very odly, it kept going down almost bogging and jumping back up. Then when I took the car and drove it for a few minutes when you would press on the gas, it would have a delayed response make a rumbling noise (like american cars with lumpy cams) then accelerate and make the "normal" honda engine acceleration noise smoothly.

Half way through, my car threw a CEL. I just jumped it and got code 10. Intake Air Temperature .

What the hell is going on? Car is completely stock. Recently changed my spark plugs. Thats the only thing that isnt oem.

it could be the chemicals doing thier job. Reset your ECU and see if it still does it.

Are your spark plugs gapped correctly...? I think they should be .30"... Don't hold me to that, but I'm pretty sure that's what the recommended gap is for hondas...

They are gapped properly. I checked them with feeler gauges prior to putting them in. These are the oem Denso plugs that come in gsr motor.

From the helms manual:
GSR/ITR
NGK: PFR6G-13, DENSO: PK20PR-L13 (the ones I have)
Gap: 1.2-1.3 mm (0.047-0.051 in) The are currently .049 in gap.

holy **** bro, mine did that too when i did it, and my check engine light came on, and i had all the symptoms that urs is having.. i was thinking of taking it to acura so they can check the code, but i was lazy and never got around to doing it.. did u find the reason it did it?

but the weird thing is, it only happens when i put that fuel injector **** in my car, and now that i havent had it in for a while (about 3-4 months) it hasnt been doing it.. i have no idea whats going on

oh and another thing is i turn my car on, and it happens, then i turn it off and turn it back on and its still doing it.. now after about 8 turn off's turn on's, it stops.. my only mods are intake, plugs, exhaust

did this happen recently?

I just changed my plugs and went for a drive. Still is making noise. There was some liquid on the plugs possibly from the fuel injector cleaner itself. Not sure. What did you do?

they sell bg44k and acura and honda out here so i dont think it can be bad for the car. ive heard that it can eat you fuel filter away and clog it up. try and replace that and see if it helps

well luckily I think I kept my fuel filter from the last time I changed it (since I was changing it sorta prematurely anyway). I will try replaceing the fuel filter. i still probably have that stuff in my fuel lines, What do I do about the rest of the fuel...

yes, put it in with full tank.

My father suspects that there was a lot of junk in the gas tank and when I put in the BG44K that it quickly disolved it all and then when on to ruin the fuel filter, then went on to clog up the fuel injectors. I'm taking my car to Acura this week to check it out.

As far as I'm concerned, BG44k is too strong.

it's the bg44k i didn't do it in my car, but at the shop that i work at we have had it happend to customers cars before , actually you are supposed to the 44k in conjunction with the upper induction clear that bg makes also , we provide this as a service where i work , inconjunction the work great

From what I've read, BG44k is a more concentrated form of the Techron additive. They aren't exactly the same product, but they share the same compounds. I believe you only need to use BG44K once a year, since its so concentrated.

I also recall reading that people recommend that you change the fuel filter before putting in BG44k. The reason was that people were experiencing clogged filters afterwards.

If you want some more info, try going to http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi. Run a search in additives forum. There's som e good info.
