Default Need help: S2000 has a deceleration vibration recall.

I have a 00 s2000 that makes alot of noise in 3rd & 4th, when coming to a slow from around 40-50 mph. The clutch pedal starts to vibrate w/shifter and under carriage. It sounds like the drive shaft or transmission, maybe possible the b pipe exhaust. There's recall on deceleration/ vibrating noise. Can't really determine exactly what it is. throw out bearing????

Anyone has the same probem that got repaired by dealer. what was the cause and what did they replace????

My old S2k had the recall performed. It is the clutch disk. The fix is to swap the old disk for a 02 up disk. Too bad that recall doesn't really work.
My S had 15k on it when I had the recall work performed. The buzzing sound came back at around 30k.

My '01 never had any buzzing with the stock clutch, it only affects MY2000 and some '01's, at least that's what the TSB says. I've upgraded my clutch and I don't hear anything from that either.

it's the springs used in the friction disc of the clutch system. The springs will rattle/resonate at the 3-4k rpm range. There is a TSB for it.

It's sad that it's come to this but I'm the same way. I will not tak my car to Honda again since they don't seem to have any respect for S2000 owners.

The shaking is not detrimental to your car so its not a MUST to take it in but I would fix it. Try to look for a reputable Honda dealer in your area by searching the regional forums on s2ki. They also have a list of all the TSBS that were out for the S

thanks all, for the help...Someone told me that the gear ratio sucks, that's why vibration occurs, cause the deceleration curve is not smoothe...

The transmission vibration is not covered by a recall. If your car is still under factory warranty, the Honda dealer can fix it. If not, the only option is to find a really cool dealer that will do it as a goodwill repair. Even if your car is under the Honda Care extended warranty or the Honda Certified Used Car warranty, this problem is NOT covered. I just went through this about 4 weeks ago. My car is a very early 2000 with 16,000mi on it. I bought it as a Certified Used Honda in Jan 04. It has a 1 yr bumper to bumper Certified Honda Used Car warranty. But the dealer could not cover it under that warranty. It took me opening a case with Honda Customer service and bitching about them misrepresenting their Certified Used Car warranty in order for me to get them to agree to cover it under goodwill repair.

The fix is to replace the clutch with an updated clutch assembly. The job would cost about $1000-$1100 parts+labor at a Honda dealer if you pay for it yourself.

the fix is a new friction disk, not a clutch assembly. Big difference. If the vibration is a SPEED related issue, the propeller drive shaft needs to be checked for balance.

Clutch assembly clutch disk, friction disk - whatever you want to call it. My point was that there is no Honda recall for it. And unless your car is under the factory warranty, the problem is not covered unless you have a good case for a Goodwill Repair.

That's true, changed the disk and plate, runs like a champ, no more pedal vibration, or rattling noises, but the disk feels like a civic clutch pedal, really softer than the original. When the disk was out, it rattled like a tamborine, The original disk had dual springs, and I think the rating was too weak when it heated up, cause it would rattle like crazy after a vegas trip, The new one has a larger single spring. The dealers suck *****, never would service anything, or admit any faults, the only thing they did for me is changed my taillights out for a new set, cause the old ones were all faded white, repaired my masterswitch, cause the windows would not come down together when the top was dropped. This was after the clutch incident, and the spark plug that broke into the cylinder of the car. My car is cool now, never again will I by and extended warranty for anything and Good luck to all other victims of Honda warranty, maybe you'll get good service if you come into Honda with a suite and breif case. Shorts & sandals = kids fault.....

What the crap are you supposed to do if your VIN doesnt fall under the clutch recall, but you still have bad clutch vibration?

Is there a way they could mess it up and leave someone out?
