how many miles on the R? $330 won't really get you much. If your R has high mileage, do what Reid suggested. Do some maintenance and get it in the tip-top shape.
Assuming your car is stock you have just enough money for a JDM DC 4-1 (check w/ user 97 TYPE-R 312 for a good price). You'll have to save a little more for a catalytic convertor but IMO 4-1 w/ 2.5" collector is one of the best things you can buy for the car under $1k.

You'll get alot more out of this than buying mild bolt on's.

if you don't know what to do, place it in savings/checking account.

Where can I find JDM final drive for less than$350? Always thought it was more than that.

I would check all your maintenance items, and spend the rest on good quality cleaning products. No matter what mods you have, the R will always look nicer when it is spotless. Having good stuff like good quality rags, pads, polishes, waxes, interior cleaner, degreaser, and brushes makes all the difference. It will last you a while and it is money well spent.
