The door cards are screwed in by ?? number of screw (I cant remem)

Theres one near the door handle on the inside, one behind the interior door-release catch. 2 around the edge of the door card, one under a plastic clip towards the door hinge, and one towards the rearmost bottom corner of the door.

Before you undo them you will have to unclip the window & lock controls (just grad hold the edges and pull towards you, it just unclips)
then disconnect the two clips that hold that on.

also if you have a BB1 you will have the wingmirror controls on the drivers doorcard also, disconnect that.

Take hold in the 'engineered' gap (bass port?) along the bottom of the doorcard; and pull. Once thats unclipped all the way round Just 'unhook' the doorcard from along the base of the swindow frame and lift off.

The front speakers are 6" diameter.
and are mouted in a plastic cradle that screws into the door.
There are three phillips head screws holding the speaker to the plastic cradle.
You had better check the available depth as I cant remember it from when i changed mine.
The cradle may be too shallow for the aftermarket speaker that you have chosen.

Refitting is as easy as removal but its just a little fiddley hooking the top of the card in and lining up the clips that secure the door and also the sidewindow aircon vent.

When you do it look how thick that centre side impact bar is.

..and its solid steel!

Cant say they didnt think about safety, no wonder it weighs so much!

Rears
Well mine are fine so havent changed them yet, if it looks like an issue, then why don't you make an angled and slightly raised 'pod' for them. Unless you can buy one!

Oh, and you might wanna give the base of the door a hoover, they seem to collect a lot of dust and dirt from the window over the years!

the front just take the door handle trim off then unplug the power locks and windows.
then pop up the window control unlplug then unscrew the screws around the trim and then pull the door panel out releasing the clips then lift it up and remove.. then unscrew the speaker and unplug.

the rear just undo the 3 brass nuts and unplug and remove thats it

the speaker goes out through the top so why would take those off?.. and to answer your question otherwise, I have no idea how much tension is on there but I would say that it most likely would be a pain in the ***. And I wouldn't do it unless you absolutely had to.
