Default Suspension Techniques vs Comptech Rear Sway Bar/Tie Brace Combo

i saw this type of comparsion before, but can't seem to find it anywhere.

I heard some bad stuff about the Comptech rear sway combo kit and nothing about the ST one (maybe not too many people use that)

please give me some input for them, or if you know any places have them for sale or anything, please let me know. thanks!

I've read of, but haven't personally been present for, problems with Comptech's endlinks. People complain about them going bad after a year, but they are spherical bearings, and they don't like being dirty.

Performance is great, and I really like that the comptech setup mounts the bushings to the tie bar instead of directly to the flexy flyer subframe.

I had my comptech bar on my 00 si for almost 3 years. No problems except for ones causes by myself for not tightening bolts tight enough but that only happened once. Used under very extreme conditions on road course and hundereds of auto-x runs. I highly recomend the comptech and would be my only choice.

I consider the Comptech bar to be very high quality. I also see the heim joints a a very big positive over a stock-type connection because they don't introduce slack into the system.

Wear shouldn't be a concern since the pivot point is the bushings on the attachment bolt. The spherical bearing doesn't do any twisting. I'll second the thought that you should provide enough torque on the bolts (though comptech doesn't tell you what that should be), and use threadlock. I lost a connecting bolt the second weekend I had the bar.

That said, I do think the bar is overpriced. Consider having Saner ( http://www.sanerperffab.com/ ) make you something.

ST sway bar is good, IMO. I've had them for almost 2 years now, and I've had no problems. The only thing that sucked was having to drill Although, I think their new stuff doesn't require drilling.

I've had the ST bars installed on my daily driver for 4 seasons spent on Hoosier DOT's (csp, fsp, and finally sm), and I've never had to touch them except to loosen the front end links a bit. Couldn't be happier with the quality. I thought the endlink bushings would wear out or make noise, but they've worked perfectly. For what they are (non-adjustable, etc.), and the price, I think the ST bars are awesome.

i know comptech is good, but they are a bit overpriced.

as for the ST version, i am interested to find out more about their speedtech rear sway/tie bar combo as well, instead of their old rear sway bar only application.

thx for the input on comptech sway bar, (so many rich people here, lol)
btw, care to share how low of price did you get your comptech for?

thx guys

I have the Comptech bar, and did manage to bend the endlinks. Well, not the endlink themselves but the bolt that attaches them to the LCA. Comptech was quick to replace the parts and all is well now. Except for the rattle, but that's bearable.

Cheers,
Roy

I have never seen a bolt on setup I liked.

My brother put the ST set on his Civic. Front was fine, rear didn't actually "bolt in" to the frame, not enough room. He confirmed this was the part # and it was, the directions were crap, so they were no help. He mounted them the best way he could, (one hole in frame, two holes on bracket). He should have drilled but he learned the hard way and his frame broke. I helped him weld and drill a new braket on and it seems ok now.

I started with ST on my CRX race car because of price. There solution to the CRX's solid rear axle was horrible. The minute I took it out of the package I hated it. the brackets were U-bolts that needed to go aroudn the axle and the link on the swing arms. Pretty lame. Suspension could not extend without heavy grinding to the frame in the rear. The front wear no better. The kit shipped with brackets the mounted to the sub frame that where entirely too big. (Note the ST kit often has an "add on" bar style in the front. check with the dealer to see which you are getting) These brackets extended lower than the front hub assembly and constantly scraped on things even when the car had a 6.5" ride height. First race I took the took it too I ,hit an overrun and here a scrape, I knew what is was of course. The bracket had be crushed and the bar no moved around in the taco-ed bushing. BAH! I bought Lightspeed next, which is a similar set-up(add on) yet they took the time to make the brackets smaller and also recess them into the subframe. Way to go Lightspeed.

We have Comptech anti-roll bar in our EG. Very happy with it. Top notch quality. I must say I've been very happy with all Comptech product so far. Including stuff for our NSX race car.

Sure they are more expensive. But in the long run it is more than pay itself.

No reinforcement needed with the tie bar combo. I've had mine on for 3 years now, 90k miles and about 100 autocross events. Still in GREAT shape.
