Hey, I had this same problem with my integra. Is your car heavily modded? Try unplugging the IAC, and see if the idle smooths out. If so then your IAC is screwed up. If it still continues you probably have a vacuum leak. Before you do anything with the IAC though, i would check to see if you have any vacuum leaks. They have been known to cause a bumpy idle.
so i just unplug the grey connect clip then, this only happens when its cold outside, its just annoying and i hate it when im driving down the road with a nice looking car that soulds like its about to blow up.
all ive got donw to my car engine wise is intake and header

hey kristo92 i did what you said, i unpluged the IAc and the idle was very steady no ups and downs but i did get a check engine light when i did that.. so does that mean its time to change the IAC, also how much do you think it cost to get one and is it a simple bolt off bolt on swap or do i need to have something adjusted.
Through the Honda Automotive parts website a new IAC i believe costs around $150. There are 2 bolts i believe on the Iac that hold it on, and then like 3 hoses. Just take the hoses off, and then the 2 bolts, and the IAC should come right off. Spray the IAC down with brake cleaner, and that should clean off any residue that would be making the car have a jumpy idle. Also did you check for any vacuum leaks? Hope this helps. I would clean the IAC before you go out, and purchase a new one.

The IAC is located on the intake manifold. It has two bolts going into it, and i believe three hoses coming in, and out of it. Look for a black cylinder sorta shaped like a film canister. This is part of the IAC and will lead you to the full IAC. It is very easy to take off, and just cleaning it with brake cleaner usually solves any problems.

The honda dealership did this a while ageo about 2 years ageo, i did it again during the summer.. can this valve go bad, also is this a common problem with this valve going bad..
I did what you said when i had the car running the idle was going up and down and up and down so i disconnected the grey connector for the IAC and the idle was steady. I did not check for any vacume leaks, i donot know how

When i thought my IAC was bad i went to the honda dealership to order a new one, and the lead mechanic told me in the ten years he has worked there he has only seen one other honda with this problem. I bet you have a vacuum leak, or your alternator is going out on you. For now until you can get the car fixed, just leave the IAC unplugged. Yes you will get a CEL, but at least your idle wont be going crazy. Let me clarify what is going on with your car.... When you turn the car on the idle jumps up and down? Does the idle jump from like 800 to 1500 and just keep on jumping up and down?
well i have a similar problem but it only happens in the morning when i first start the car and let it warm up the idle would jump gradually though no rapid the idle stop doing that when the car is fully warm and some times the car at idle it eiter be at 900 rpms to like 600 rpms wierd i dont know why it idles so low?
Hey man, I had the same exact problems with the exact symtoms you have. When I had the Fast Idle Valve replaced, all the problems went away. By the way, 600rpm is a reasonably normal idle speed.
by unplugging, do you mean just unplugging the grey connector? or removing the entire thing from the intake plenum?? and how do you check for vacuum leaks??
i have idle problem too, but when car is warm...?

yes i had the car running then i disconnected the grey connector, youll get a check engine light so youll have to reset the ecu by pill the radio fuse or dissconnecting the battery.
I also to a blower and disconnected the hose from the IAC and the fast air valves while it was on the car not running and blew out the gunk, someone at work told me to do this because it gets a build up in there and it can cause the valves not to work like they should.
I think my pvc valve is not good i shake it and cannot hear the ball inside.
Im not sure how to check for vacume leaks i had a tech at work do it for me and he said it was allgood, ill ask him monday how he did it
