How many Honda Challenge drivers would be interested in a single national event?
I think that an event that let all of the drivers from the different regions come together would be a lot of fun. It would be nice to share that
in the paddock after the race that everyone's allways talking about. I think it would be really healthy for the series if we could all meet each other. It might dispell the rumors that the WCHC drivers are all a bunch of rich guys that couldn't cut it in SWC, or that the ECHC guys are all cousins.
I think the competition could be really good. I see pictures of all the cars out at the ECHC races and I really wonder what it would be like to be out there mixing it up. More than anything I'd like to know how I'd stack up against the H1 drivers out there, especially Evans in the CRX for obvious reasons. I think it would be even better for the guys in the new regions with maybe only 1 or 2 other cars in their class.
It would be a long tow, with maybe $1000 to $1500 in gas, food, and motels. So I guess the question isn't who would want to go to a national event, but who want's to do it bad enough to spend that kind of money?
I figure it's only a matter of time before something like this happens. I'm just wondering how soon everyone will be ready to do it. I'd be ready to do it this year, maybe in August at either Texas Motor Speedway or Mid Ohio. But maybe this year is too soon.
Your thoughts?
Please don't turn this into a thread about contact or car prep. It's all covered in the rules. Thanks,

A National Championship, similar to SCCA Runoffs, would be great. But, I think it would be cool to have a long weekend with two qualifying races and then a final "championship" race. The only contingency is that you have to be a regular Honda-Challenge competitor (i.e. competed in a majority of HC races within your region.)
I was looking for a centrally located track and I did a search and found this website=> http://chasinracin.com/track-locator/

How about a reciprocal "fly and drive" program, in your own class?
Since NASA has 2 races per weekend, this would allow for 2 "head-to-head" comparisons.
Generally, I don't drive any car except my own, and I don't normally have other people drive my car, but I find this to be a reasonable exception.

I'm all over it.. Mid Ohio would be wonderful, but its also quite a haul for the WCHC guys..
There is nothing stopping us now from just picking a nasa date and place and say "do it"

Hum.. Mid West NASA has a date on Oct 29-31 at Road America.. Thats about the most central.. It is however right after our summit point race on Oct 23-24...
I have dreamed about something like this from day 1, if only as an excuse to go to some of these very cool out of states tracks. And of course, so pit myself against kedwards
.
Late year would be better for my like Sept, because I need to earn up more vacation
.
Maybe this ought to be suggested to NASA as a multi-class national event and not just HC. I see it as more attainable that way.

Count me in......that would be fun. I would love to go up against some other equally preped CRX's. Mid Ohio would be a perfect track for the unofficial championship. Let's get a roll call going and set a date.
We would be in for sure and would bring 3 H1 cars. I've already emailed and written and left phone messages with NASA (Ryan) regarding this. Still no reply though!
Wasn't this the whole idea of ECHC/WCHC??
Come on guys lets all push to make it happen!!!!

hi fellow HC'ers.
i'm 100% in. i haven't raced (ever) at Mid Ohio; only done DE's there; but I can attest that it is an awesome track.
well worth the tow for me. i'm there! just let me know the weekend...

PS Mid Ohio offers some really nice spectating areas, too.

I'm in for Mid Ohio as well. Let's get Lawrence Mansier involved since Mid Ohio falls under MWHC. I know they have a date there in April, and I believe they have another race weekend there in August or September...

Not sure I agree with this. As many of you know, the NWR doesn't have NASA representation, therefore we don't have HC. We have to tow from the NW to California to run with the HC..... not happening on a regular basis for obvious reasons. We might be able to do one or two a year, but having a requirement to run a season of HC or not be allowed to run the "National", seems kind of harsh.

well if there are enough competitors, maybe they could break them up into different heats...
a 20 car start/finish off all H1 would be sweet
Or we could have a 80 car start like the 25 hour enduro..(sounds messy)
