Default Does Carbon Fiber Rust?

I live in MN, and in the winter the roads get covered in salt to fight the ice and snow, which in turn ends up all over the vehicles. My question is, does carbon fiber rust?

Like if a were to put a carbon fiber hood on my car, would it be ok to have on in the winter, or something that should come off for those chilly months.

Does it rust at all?

Does it rust like regular metal?

etc...

Thanks
Joel

carbon fiber is not metal. it will not rust. not ideal for salt corrosion and harsh weather

since it is not regular metal and is super duper stong and light metal it will rust if one drop of water touches it,
make sure you dont get your CF hood wet you will definately mess it up

and a for you

it CAN rust.. if you chip your epoxy resin. it shouldnt rust unless there is damage.

carbon fiber is just tiny tiny mico strands of metal weaved together into a twill.

Carbon is metal? Wow. I bet all those guys who traded their metal hoods for carbon fiber must feel like idiots. Wow. Stupid idiots.

naw. its very lightweight.

/rant

Thin as in .0125 of an inch in some cases. Its micro thread woven into a strand. Strand is woven. Woven strand is then twilled into a sheet. Sheet is then used in the molding process. Epoxy binds the carbon fiber and FIBER GLASS (For all you VIS Stunnahs out there) together.

When your hood starts to warp its because of the heat that the engine creates. Hence the necessity to buy a hood that uses high temp. epoxy resin or buy a cowl hood.

When compared to metail it is lighter. And stronger.

So, they're not stupid idiots.
