Wassup guys, i've been having this problem for a week or two and now it's getting to me. Whenever i slow down to a stop, can be in neutral or 1st gear, whatever, i'll hear some clicking from my front wheels, the click slows down as the car comes to a complete stop. Could it be my axles or what ?

I have that same problem. My dad said it was probably the cv joint, and it is nothing major.

errr, it's fawkin annoying

 

rotors might be warped

 

rotors being warped is more of a vibration than a clicking noise. id say cv joints are going. you will have to replace you axles soon.

 

yeah i would say the rotors maybe.. what suspension do you have.. my friined has coilovers and they click like that when he stops to it drives me nuts.. glad i got springs

 

It's happening to me on totally stock.

 

have you checked your rotors?? see if your cv boot is spitting grease (ripped) .. is it like clicking or poppig?? just when you stop or when you turn too??

 

see if your CV joint boot is ripped?

i just changed my rotors maybe a month and a half ago

it's just clicking when i stop, not when i turn

is it coming from BOTH front wheels? at the same time/simultaniously? and you dont get any noise when turning? hmm. replace the axles (cant hurt) with some re-furbs and see if that stops the noise. even if your rotors WERE warped, it would do nothing more than vibrate and shake your steering wheel around like a *****.

 

i think my rotors may be warped also, when i brake hard from 60 it shakes like a ****, but i think i may just replace my axles anyways.

Why would you want to replace you axles if there is nothing wrong with them? Check your rotors for runout. If they are warped, take it somewhere that can turn the rotors on the car.

well, what else explains the clicking, if it were rotors it'd be a more of a shaking, like explained before

You say it only does it going straight and slowing down. The pads moving side to side in the sadles can make a creaking noise that sounds like a click. Plus you say it has a vibration braking. Check for runout.

BULLSHIT, warped rotors can cause noise also. He's describing it perfectly.

 

no clicking noise from a rotor, jus vibrate furiously...that i have encountered...its hard to diagnose a car from discriptions..heh u can take u rotors to a parts store to be turned shouldnt cost u more then 8 bucks a rotor...
as far as cv axles....
take your wheel off...look at the inside of the rim...if theres alot of black dust then you need to replace the CV boot...but its prob safer to replace the hole cv joint, they come with lifetime warranties at oreilly, cost is around 59.99 with core charge or 60 bucks...

hmmph. i've driven two cars with warped rotors--one of them had severely warped ones. i didnt hear any sounds, but it was almost impossible to brake in a straight line. learned somethin new.

 

I think it's the CV joint or axles.

CV joint going bad is nothing serious? Your dad is ******* newbie like me.

 

I have the same thing but only when braking. It started happening right after I changed the brake pads with turned rotors. I don't know what could be causing the problem, but I am prety sure it's coming from the brakes. Everything looks good. Any thoughts...???

easy to fix = minor problem/nothing serious

really it takes like ~2 hours to replace both for the first time...
