Default Scammer Alert! Jason Ames (aka jdmjason)

*** Update Below***

I posted a WTB post on October 27th (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=660161) to which Jason replied he was selling a CF hood for $280 shipped (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=656622). I contacted him via PM and he said that he could only accept MO or personal check (although his post said otherwise) because his wallet was stolen and he had to freeze his bank account. I was told there were other bids so the first to send a MO with USPS tracking number would win. I did so, and was told that I was the first to provide the tracking number. The MO was delivered on Novermber 1st, and I contacted him via PM to make sure he got it. He replied Monday that he got it on Monday. Ok, whatever. So I tell him to ship out the hood ASAP as I was going home from college to 'meet' the hood at my house to install it. Using UPS/Fed Ex transit times (he never provided a tracking number) it would take 3 business day. He told me that the hood was shipped out on November 6th meaning it would arrive at my house on November 11th. Nov. 11 rolls around, no hood. I wait an extra day just to give him the benefit of the doubt since there was a Bank holiday (UPS was delivering though), but still no hood. I contact him again via PM and ask what the problem is. No reply. I ask again, more sternly and also send an email. Finally he replies saying he accidentaly closed the PM and forgot about it. He said he shipped the hood through his work and he doesn't know how (or even where) they shipped it. He said they mave have shipped it Greyhound Freight, which would explain the delay. Greyhoud freight doesnt 10 days to deliver. Since, I've attempted to PM, email, and call him on multiple occasions, all without reply.

Interstingly enough, Jason seems to be very much in the buying/selling mood, even though he can't hold up his end of our deal. Threads where Jason shows interest of buying/selling from between the time I mailed the MO until now, take it for what it's worth:

I don't know if he did this intentionally, but most of our conversation was on PM, which clears after 7 days. I do have the two emails I sent him, MO tracking number, and MO receipt if anyone is interested. I've been very polite throughout this entire matter, trying to be considerate of the situation he claimed he was in, but now I am forced to do this. I have filed two federal mail fraud reports. I've contact my lawyer on this matter, and Jason will shortly be recieving a letter from him. At this point in time, all I want is my money back, but he obviously can't deliver. You don't sell things on forums and then dissapear for weeks at a time while customers try to contact you.

Jason, if I have to file suit in civil court I will, but it will be for quite a bit more than $280, I can promise you that.

Jason called me today and said he was going to find the hood or refund my money. He was very apologetic and willing to help.

Hopefully everything will work out now.

Received the hood today. It was shipped on November 22nd, the same day of my first post. Guess thats just what you have to do to get it out of some people. I'm not gonna take any further action against him, but everyone beware.

Luckily the hood was in great shape and in better condition than he described.
