Check out SonicBlueTeg's https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=680086 post or my thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=682810 if you want to see my Saturday pics. Anyways, here's some of my Sunday pics.
This Porsche spun entering the front straight. He hit the wall and bounced back on the track.
Then he was hit by a Nissan NX.
Kiwi (which means he's from New Zealand) Jeff Owen
Dennis Caco plans to campaign his Integra in Honda Challenge next year.
5Zigen in the paddock.
That Porsche again.
Hybrids Racing team checking out Andy's in-car footage from Infineon on Shaun's laptop. L-R Tom Liang (#0 JDMhondaparts.com CRX), Andy Hope (#1 JDMhondaparts.com CRX), David (Hybrids Racing chef), and Shaun K (Hybrids Racing team manager).
Tom Liang and his roommate Boonrat.
The best site on the web!
Unlike other Robin Hoods, he can speak with an English accent.
Don Mock's CRX.

This guy is supposedly one hell of an RC car driver.
Hybrids Racing. The black Mountaineer is the #1 CRX's tow vehicle. The silver Tundra between the white Tundra and the black Mountaineer is the tow vehicle for the #0 CRX.
David the chef also double's as a camera man. He takes video as well as sets up the in-car cameras.
Shaun K talking to Andy Hope.

These two seemed to be racing even though it was qualifying.
This guy dragged his exhaust yesterday too!
CRX seems to be the car of choice.

Salute to the competition
I forgot to have Dave make me more chicken wraps so I could eat on the way back home!
This is the key to Andy's performance. Not everyone knows this but squirrels are the key to speed. There's a bunch of squirrels at every track and Andy scoops them up where no one can see him. They help max out the horsepower of the engine. This moving grate allows the squirrels to leave the car before it heads to the post-race inspection. Shhhh! It's a secret!
Did you know the Unabomber is also a race fan?
Andy was able to get permission for me to take pics at the Lost Hill corner station.
On the way towards Lost Hill (right after the sweeper) I saw a TARANTULA crawling on the track! If it was possible, I would've had Shaun K stop and back up so I could either take a pic or capture the tarantula!
Pace car
BMW off
This BMW carved the field like a Thanksgiving turkey.
The front wheel always got airborne.
Supposedly, S2000s have a problem with the PCV so they tend to smoke sometimes. Anyone want to explain this?
This is a stock GSR.
This GSR isn't stock.
Note the differences in the GSRs.
Boonrat
On pole.
I think Tom went off trying to look for those special squirrels that Andy seems to always get.
Andy passing one of his enduro co-drivers (Higashi in the EG)
Kiwi got P1 after Andy's clutch stuck again! (unless Andy wanted to wow the crowd by slicing up the field like he did at Infineon!)
That damn CRX again...
Andy got the lead.
Don Mock
I think this driver (a girl I think?) chopped Andy on the straight and left him peeved.
Ryan Flaherty
For the Integra driver who wanted more pics of his car!

Yeah right, Andy.

There's always lots of air traffic over Buttonwillow.
End of the season PR shots. The sunset brings out the color of those "pesky" CRXs!

See you next season.
Tom, you forgot to take out the tape.
Andy counting his prize money but I don't think he had enough to cover everyone's dinner at Willow Ranch.
Some of the NASA guys at Willow Ranch's backroom bar. If you haven't eaten there, you're missing out. I had a bacon wrapped 8oz. filet mignon w/mashed potatoes, salad, corn on the cob, cup of chili, and a dinner roll for $14.95! Best of all, it's cooked on a mesquite BBQ.
I hope you enjoyed the pics. Took me an hour to post all this!

That particular S2000 was a little overfilled to begin with...
But, any S2000 will smoke on race tires, especially in right handers. The valve cover breather and PCV are on the left hand side of the head, which is tilted to the left to begin with. Under sharp transitions (moreso than just high constant g's) oil gets into the intake manifold and voila, smokescreen
If you noticed, later in the day, the car barely smoked at all. Per HC rules, that car will have a breather catch can on it next year and you shouldn't see anything.
Word to the wise, it was really quick for its shakedown outing. Way overweight, only 20 laps on the suspension, etc. and it ran within a tenth of Andy's fastest lap....then again, we all know Andy makes no power

That S2000 looks like it belongs to David Karner (SlickRick on the S2Ki board). The E36 M3 "carving up the field" is none other than Scott Smith, who served up a serious *** whooping in the U2 class at this year's OTC.

He really doesn't make any power though. I love hearing all those internet rumours about the mystery 250hp B16A he has.
Oh, and I thought that S2K was about 2 seconds off Andy's pace, not a couple tenths? I also was told it was pretty underweight too.

Thanks for posting such great pictures. Fantastic visual ending to a great season. Congratulations to everyone who drove hard and made the effort to come out and race. Teams JDM/Hybrids, Prodrive, and Endless brought out the best of H1 racing and deserve a lot of credit for creating the "hype" for Honda Challenge. H4 racing was as tight as it could be and all the drivers are top notch. Special thanks for the Nor Cal HC racers and especially Mike Quan for waiving the flag up north. Most of all thanks to all the East Coast HC racers and specifically Karl Shultz for creating such a great recipe for import racing. Looking forward to next year and seeing more of you at the race track.

Regards,
Damn dude. Thanks for posting those pics. That's my "stock" GSR by the way. I'm laughing so hard I can barely type this. Funniest pics I've ever seen of my car. Maybe I should do some suspension work....
Hey, any chance I could get high res copies of those??? Thanks!
Hey, any chance I could get high res copies of those??? Thanks!
Any one know if Andy has any incar video posted anywhere? I would like to review his secret squirrel gathering driving technique...I am planning my attack as I pass him with my Honda Odyssey that I am entering into H1 next year..... bwahahhaha! (sound of thunder) You gotta see the roll cage.... Be afraid, be very afraid...
Seriously though- Mucho congratulations to Andy and Tom and the team!
BTW- The signal "gsr" is actually an H4 LS Integra owned by Thomas Okihisa of Toyo Tires. I got to drive it, and wow- what a difference between my "enthusiast prepped" GSR and his "race prepped" LS. I offered him an even trade, but he said he would have done it if I asked on any other day except for the ones that end in "Y". Damn, I was so close.

Oh, I know he doesn't make much power, but power is only one half of the critical equation.
The S2000 weighed in at well over 2600 lbs with driver (still had passenger seat, full doors, window glass, etc.) on the NASA scales. I think that the onset of reliable K-series power for the FWD cars is coming on just in time to offset the chassis advantages of the S2000s. There are a couple getting ready to run out West and a couple back East. Driver talent is still the biggest factor, but at least one driver on each coast has the talent to do some serious damage.
On the lap times, it was a tenth, unless Andy was down in the 2:00 range
But to be fair, the driver of the S2000 has some serious talent. I suspect he's not representative of the typical S2000 guy thinking about racing.

The AMB site doesn't list the times for Driving Concepts participants, but I could've sworn the S2k was doing 2:04's. I guess I was wrong.
Well over 2600 lbs? The rules for 2003 show the S2000 need to be at 2800lbs. What's new for 2004?

Very cool, my crx should be ready for next season. Can't wait to meet all the guys and have a chance to be on the same track as them...
Do have any he res pics of the JDM crx's. Its would make a great wallpaper. Like the on with both cars at the end of your list.
Wow that looked so much for fun everybody there. I hope i can be out there pretty soon. Just need to take my 2 big bubbles off of my crx and put on 4 of the same tires
I really want to get out there and start having fun, (for more then 10.4 sec.)

yeah looking at the pics and everyone's fresh faces, it seems like a lot's changed since then and now.
