Default When things don't fit....

My old setup had the On center discharge. Everything cleared. Now with the new tangential discharge....the turbo sits too far forward and the downpipe doesn't clear the radiator. Cheapest solution....Make it fit.

That should last me until I get a new one finished. I need to lighten it up some and add some bracing points to it.

That was the hardest part about it all. I moved the fitting from the right side of the pan and welded/welding one on this week that is directly behind the turbo. It will 90 off the turbo...travel about 2 inches into the pan.

I used a 4x4 piece of wood to make the initial model for fitting. Then I drew that in Pro-E and took it to work and machined it on a mill. This particular one weighs 7lbs. I think I can get it down to 4lbs.

It's exactly how I feel abut DIY, it's not because you did something yourself that it has to be crap, mostly people did DIY project with almost nothing in ressource, but ( like in this case ) some got better tools/ability and can actually come up with quality part's wich is less costly and IMO the best way to achive without blasting the pig again...
nice work,look clean, nice adaptor.

Do you plan on using studs with nuts rather than the bolts?

Aww...

We just made a plenum riser/adapter for the turbo Justy that is similar in nature, your adapter reminds me of it. I'll have to snap some pics.

Good stuff

The downpipe was not even an issue. The manifold was designed for an on center design (horrible for flow). The turbo he has is tangential, thus, no matter which way he turned it, it smacked into something (radiator, etc). This solution was the most elegant he could come up with, and now that I've seen it, I can say that

nice adapter i would've just cut the turbo flange on the manifold and rewelded it at an angle, but that wouldn'e be as cool
