i need a clutch for my turbo b16 civic. i want to know which clutch is the best for that kind of horsepower but still has pretty decent streetability. i am also looking for a flywheel too. i need to order these this week so please help me out. thanx

also can you help me out by posting which stage also.

 

hey im trying to be a dick at all but just search first. Ive seen about 5 threads very similar to this in the last week.

on a more helpful note ive always had good luck with ACT clutches

 

it seems like CM is the choice so far...they are good clutches however the bad thing i hear is that they don't last as long as other performance clutches on the market?? Is this a characteristic that can be associated with CM....or are there too many variables to make that assumption??

 

clutch masters sucks, ACT sucks (i've had 3 and 2 have been nothing but problems which act man doesn't care about), tilton owns

 

i really can't afford to get a tilton although i have heard they are great.

 

personally..... which would you rather do... spend 5-600 on a clutch... and have it blow up...and buy another one.... and have it blow up... and so on.....

or buy one for a little over 1g... and have it last a **** load longer than any other clutch on the market.....

think about it....

If you have the time to save the money to make that much power out of a honda.... you have enough time to save your pennies and buy a reliable bad *** clutch.

 

i would go with the clutch net stage2 six puck.

yeah, in theory the sprung hub should allow it to last longer

You can afford to build a 400+ whp civic... but can't afford a Tilton clutch?

Not a Tilton hater but what the hell is going on with this Tilton Bandwagan...
My CM stage 4 held fine up to 400HP, now sporting a CM twin disc. Many people are still using regular ACT extreme puck clutches upon these power level. Suck is an overstatement.

sprung six puck heavy duty pressure plate. you will be set. your leg will get alittle bigger, but thats ok.

thats what i have, very streetable and sooo smooth. pedal pressure aint even hard.

 

ive had the same ACT heavy duty pressure plate in my car for 50k+ boosted miles with not one single problem. i started with a street strip dist but eventually i exceeded the torque capacity on it and it started to slip so i replaced it with a 6puck and again havent had any problems since.

 

which brand of sprung six puck do you guys think will have the best pedal feel, like the least pressure incraese over stock?

 

go with the clutch net stage 2 six puck! i have the same one in my gsr civic. i like it because it has a smooth pedal feel but yet instint ingagement.

 

i went w/ the ACT extreme pres plate & 4 puck---a lil funky from a stop but fine otherwise

I was just going to say lol. I run a Action Clutch and I love it. Works great for my 400whp setup. It has a pedal feel close to stock and very driveable. Holds the power and has not failed yet like some people have thought it would. I will be pushing this clutch to the limit and see what happens. By the way I got a Action 2MD and its unsprung.

 

We are running ClutchMasters stage 4 on my friends civic. So far it is holding up fine with 575hp and slicks.

how many miles total are on the clutch?

 

He has it for 2 years probably 12k or so miles. He doesn't drive it that much. It has seen about 60 or more passes down the track with slicks but only about 15 passes with over 500hp since he just recently completed his latest engine and about 2500 miles. I'm sure if he was to get traction in first and second he might fry the clutch but for now it is holding up just fine.

 

What can you expect a ACT HDSS with ACT lightened flywheel to hold powerwise? I know nobody can be over specific, but perhaps generally?

about 240 wheel tq - it really depends on how quickly your motor develops the torque and how long it holds it for.
