H22a good way to go?
can any of you H22a owners tell me how satisfied you are with this engine. what has your overall experiance been with it good? bad? and would you sugest any other engine?
Personally I don't have a h22 in my ef and I wouldn't do it because you really have to hack up the frame and I wouldn't want to do that to a good straight car. Now on the other hand I putting a h22 into my eg that I just picked up. The eg has a bigger engine bay with more room and you don't have to hack. But other people will tell you to do, when they have never done it or even ridden in a ef with a h22.
IMO it looks pretty ugly in a EF chassis. If going drag i would suggest it, otherwise expect to pay $$$. Not many people have that setup, probably for a reason. This would be the biggest can of worms you can probably open when it comes to swaps in a civic/crx.

H22 in an EF= Bad *** SETUP.
Get some sticky *** tires and some good suspension and roll bar and cruse around like your stock car
it might cost a little dough but when you are running it will pay off. I mean you can go with a type R might be actually cheaper but nothing beats a BadASS EF22.

im sure in a straight line it would beat alot of things, doesnt mean that i would go ahead and get it for that one reason. You like what you like and i like what i like. In So cal that setup would be pretty hard to get away with seeing that we get hassled for everything, so keeping it oem looking is a plus. bye

What do you guys drive around with your hood's off or something?
How is an engine swap in of itself not OEM looking? I have a motor swap but you wouldn't know it just by looking at the car.
Your logic is fuzzy at best.

if your gonna have a swap in cali you better have it legit. by going to tha ref and getting a stamp put on your car saying that everythings where it should b and it passes smog. if the california highway patrol pull you over and they pop your hood and see no stamp for that motor he's gonna send you to the ref so you either gotta swap it out or get it ready to pass the ref's inspection. so for a b16 you gotta go obd 1 , retard tha cam timing and ignition timing blah blah blah its just too much a hassle. and the highway patrol over here most of them know what there looking for so its not easy to bs with them.

Most cops aren't into hondas like we are. As long as you don't have blue this, red that, ricey this and useless that then it's just a motor. The real trick is not to get pulled over in the first place!

the question was for a hatchback or crx. I dont really care if it is leagel or not because you can get past it one way or another, and if you get pulled over you can always say that your old engine blew up. Im sure this setup would be fast on the line, but what about on the street?
and why do you say b series?
and why do you say b series?
Putting an h22a in a CRX is ALOT of work, i could write a 2 page message on this. But when it comes down to it.. when people suggest B series it's because of the WORK thats involved in putting an h22a in a CRX/Civic. Torque is your friend on the street. The h22a has alot of that.. As for handling it is not a big issue.. 99.9% of people who talk about how bad it will handle are just 'tankin'... - i'd say that i couldn't even tell the difference between my car and my buddies LS/VTEC for handling when booting around the negihbourhood - BUT i do have a pretty good suspension.
I think the H22A is a good way to go IF you have the time and patiance to take on a long term project and you have accsess to some good tools. If not.. then do what everyone and their sister does and go with a
