How do you launch on Azenis at the track?
I'm planning on bringing my soon-to-be-tuned integra to the 1/4 mile track soon, and I was wondering what I should do to get them to hookup their best. It's getting colder and I don't know if the Maryland tracks are even open, but I'd like to try. My setup will be as follows:
stock LS integra motor, hondata tuned with 10psi to 230-250whp. 205/50/15 Falken Azenis mounted on GSR swirlies. I still have stock suspension and open differential.
What pressure should I put the tires at? Any burnout? Also what launch techniques work best for you guys? I'm hoping to cut a 2.1 or better 60'.... but with the weather dipping lower and lower, that might not be possible.
Thanks for any input.
P.S. sorry for the crosspost, drag racing forum's kinda dead.

My experience with Azenis is that they spin horribly on the rubber laid into the track by slicks, traction is a problem because of that and temps won't make it much better. You'll most likely have to gimp it through first and second gear to get any decent ETs.
I recommend doing a small burnout with street tires. You have a little bit of crap and dirt on the tires, spin them quick to clean them off. I'd do it without any water. You're not trying to get the tires hot, they aren't slicks, so keep the burnout short and sweet - about the time I see tire smoke I let off.
As far as pressures go, play around.

I havent got a chance to test mine out yet, but hers what ive gathered from searching and talking to others people. Go around water box, do small burnout, just get the debris/rocks off, around 18-20 psi in them and the rest is all driver.
would all of this apply to any tire? I have the yokohama avs es100s. Just got them a couple of weeks ago and haven't launched on them. On my last tires i barely got a 2.5 60' on my best run of the day. I have stock suspension still but I was hoping at least these tires might help me get that 60' a little better.

I totally agree. I couldnt get traction till 3rd and then started pulling hard. Granted I am not the best driver, still learning, but I am going back with slicks.

Azenis' straightline (and lateral) grip is much much better than my previous tires, all-season Goodyears. My only time at the track I pulled 2.3's 60' on those old tires when I was stock, and I'm sure I can do better with the added power/grip my car has now.
Awhile back SCC did a test with azenis and they said lower tire pressures give worse performance due to the stiff sidewalls. Has anyone tried launching with around 29-30psi? I was gonna start there and take out air from there. Overall I want to keep the pressure kinda close to what I drive around with because this a street car, and I care most about how it'll perform on the street. The track's only a test.

Everyone that ive seen running 25+ psi were the guys getting 2.3+ 60 ft's, the guys gettign 2.0 and 2.1 were running around 18-20 psi, thats enough evidence for me. I dont care what a stupid magazine says most of those people are stupid.
Also i woudlnt go as far to say that azenis isn't a good drag tire, although it's designed for auto-X, if people are pulling 2.0 with them then for the price and tire life you cant beat them period

I had better launches with my kumhos than with my Azenis. Running 2.1-2.2 with them until they were bald then I was going 2.3. Now with the brand new Azenis I am still at 2.3.
