Default More z10 kit observations

After driving around for several days, a few things really stand out.

1. The car steers more neutral now, even more like a rear driver

2. The front end feels much more planted in turns and the feedback thru the wheel is enhanced. Even going over uneven pavement the car doesn't exhibit any twitchiness. You can apply power in the turns much sooner as the tires are planted for better traction

3. As silly as it sounds, the car actually accelerates easier and maintains speed with less throttle. This last tank of gas I got 2 more MPG and didn't do anything other than install the kit. I think this is because the suspension is being held in a more precise manner, preventing the flex that allows the toe to change as speed is increased. Increased toe out will create extra tire friction. If the toe is maintained to reduce that friction gas mileage should increase

4. Acceleration squat (front end rising under acceleration) and front end dive under braking have been noticeably reduced, resulting in a much more balanced condition when driving fast.

Finally, the best way I can describe the steering is to compare it to my 87 RX 7 Turbo car. Steering input on the RX translates into car movement, something the Teg was lacking, but now wheel movement means car reaction. It takes a couple of days to get used to it, but it sure is nice. No more turning the wheel and waiting for the chassis to catch up.

If you know someone who has this, drive their car, you'll be glad you did.

I got the same kit, wait until you get them on on a drag strip. It doesn't feel as squirrely from hard launches or traction lost.

Probably the only gripe, I have about them is that they replace the tow hooks, so I don't know how I am going to hook the car up to a dyno ?

Well I actually haven't paid anything for it yet I put it on to do some R&D for z10 due to an interference with my ITR spec brake upgrade kit.

I think retail is $420...I'll be carrying them starting next week, email me for good price.

No clearance concerns with the Wilwoods. The only reason the bracket hits the larger caliper is because the ITR caliper is wider and the bolt happens to be on the same plane as the bracket...

If this is true then you've sold me, I can't stand that " twitchiness" that occurs under mild to hard cornering. And what needs to be done to remedy the clearance problems with the R calipers, I picking up a set this weekend to go with your 11" 2-piece rotors (may spring from the Stoptechs , if the budget allows ) . I'll email you tomorrow.

I made the slots in the brackets long enough to clear at full lock both ways on my car. Unless there is some serious deflection of the wheel or knuckle I wouldn't expect any interference problems. I'm going to flog the car around some serious corners this weekend and I'll see if anything rubs.

I just love the way the car accelerates under power now, nothing but smooth clean pulling even around corners. Quite different from the stock feel.

Rubbing may in very rare situations occur, usually when a wheel of improper offset is used.

Even in the event that a wheel with the improper offset is used, rubbing will *only* occur at full lock. If someone is able to turn so hard that it necessitates hitting full lock on your steering wheel... then thats some crazy driving.

Realistically, if you run the proper wheels, you should not have any interference problems at all.

Yah i heard it was only on full lock....and the only time i do full lock turns are u-turns......maybe if i had some oversteer that may change

thanks

uh..... just curious..... why are you waiting for the DA z10 kit? i'm fairly sure that that z10 kit is pretty much the same thing the DA comes with stock......

i know on my DA, there is the front x-member with some rods connected to the lower control arms. isn't that pretty much what the z10 kit is? i know the newer integras and the newer civics don't have it, but my DA does......

so.... would someone like explain what's the difference? other than better material......???
