aight some of you guys might remember my post about the header i got for free from my friends totalled car but if you dont here is the link to the original post.

well its done and for a total of $75 i couldnt be happier. im surprised i was even actually able to get it together! it's not the prettiest header (im an ugly *** welder ) by any means but itll get the job done. havnt got to actually use it yet b/c i have to get a cat so im sure on the performance or how many leaks it has anyways here are the pics and yes im going to paint it with some paint but im not sure on what kind will hold up to the heat? what kind of paint should i put on this thing? thanks for the encouragement from everyone on this DIY project. lemme know what you think.

what parts did you build it from?

I would paint it with some high temp enamel - you can get it at most auto supply stores - just paint it black or something subtle...

 

thanks for the props! also i got another question. when i had it bolted up to the car i forgot to measure the cat length that i need so i also need to know what that length is if anyone could help me out real quick!

from the oil pan bend back was a jdm dc so it is 2.5". if you click on the post i linked to you can see pics of what i started with

I think the ITR one is 17.5''

paint it flat black and sell it on ebay as a jdm header i bet if you start low people will bid and youll probally get like 300 bucks for it

You could make a cone 10 ceramic glaze, the heat from the headers will give you an awesome affect. Probabaly wouldn't work but would look good!

haha, for a diy, it came out sweet man.

 

near the collector, the bends on the piping looks to be crush bend, or not very good mandrel bent. That might affect your power output slightly. but not too great..

 

no its all good mandrel bends it just looks like that cus i used expanded peices to slip over the collector pipes so they look a little bigger. its all the same ID

 

Holy crap what a transformation. I cant believe you actually made that header look the way it is.. even from all those dents. nice work man. Make sure you fill us in with the numbers you make w/ it.

haha that would be cool if i did. hmmmmmmmmm......fix it for about $75 and then sell it for about $200. not a bad trade off. anybody got any trashed headers i could have?

ya I got a screwed up DC- 4-1 for a GSR but it does not have the 2.5 inch collector!
