i have a 00 gsr. im getting skunk 2 IM, apexi vafc, aem cam gears, and now im thinking of getting ITR cams off an 2001. is it worth it? or should i spend some more money on different cams??
basically, what cams should i use?? i dont intend to change valve springs or retainers.

If you're aren't really doing any big internal work (i.e. higher compression, headlwork, etc.) don't waste your money with aftermarket cams... I would recommend a CTR/2000+ ITR (same) IN cam and don't even worry about the exhaust... There isn't a big difference at all but if you want it anyway then get it... Good Luck

Get a good used CTR intake cam. I got mine on HT for $130 shipped. Then start saving for some bigger cams and higher compression. You will be hooked on the power sooner than you will be able to think!
Then take REAL advantage of that GSR

so, i could simply buy the ITR intake cam, and just install that?? im from canada and i dont know where i could find the CTR intake cam.
whats the difference between ITR cams and skunk2 stage 1 cams??
is it worth just going for the stage 1 cams from skunk2?
how would i put my compression up?

Have you degreed a CTR cam over an ITR before?? Trust me, you won't notice a difference so they are pretty much identical... As for the SK2's I really wouldn't waste my money... Bigger more aggressive cams don't do anything for a STOCK motor... Like I said if you really want more power, build the bottom end with higher compression pistons (OEM, JDM GSR/P72-00, USDM ITR/P73-A0, JDM ITR/P73-00, PR3, P30, CTR/PCT) are all OE pistons that will yield a higher compression ratio in your motor... Search around and you'll hear a lot... For all motor purposes you'll also find out that headwork and cam selection determine everything... Don't get a BIG cams right now, you'll just lose hp and be slower... Also search around online, if you don't have any places locally there are a lot online that sell JDM R parts... Unless you're looking at building your motor I would just stick to OEM parts... Just my $0.02... Good Luck

if you're not planning to change your valvetraing, itr cams is a very worthy mod, along with skunk stage 1's.
