I didn't lose any HP because I have a snail on my motor!

Here's my TB cable bracket mod for GSR's with a SK2 mani.

I was able to maintain my lowend for the most part - Esp. after tuning. Im running a Comptech header which helps the low-mid relatively...I would attribute most of the not-loss to that. My car is mostly a mid-range deal anyway - the Stage 1's do mid quite well, and I love the setup for daily driving. It also makes good power up high - so I feel like the setup is ideal for my goals.

Our cars in general dont do much at all from idle - 3000 rpms...lol...however, I can say after the manifold Ive not lost any noticiple power - and the car feels more torquey throughout the entire powerband, which is what youre looking for. So Id reccomend it, yes.

this manifold is fine. with an ecu change, you shouldn't really have a loss in the low end. even with the stock ecu, the low end didn't change much. i guess it would depend on your mods, but if u want to get serious, you should get this mod.

If you swap the manifold with stock cams, you will get the loss in the low end. With ITR cams or aftermarket cams, there is no loss, especially after tuning.

has anyone ever dyno'd just the manifold before and after?? see cuz i have a dc jdm header and ive already lost low end and im afraid it will be too much loss. i want my low-mid for daily/ auto-x.
ive seen a write up showing that the skunk only starts making power over the gsr after 6000. you think thats right?

i'd say you won't notice much of anything with that setup.

you can't have the best of both worlds man. its either raise your top end and have a bit of a suffer on low end. Or keep it the same and not have the top end power with the skunk2 IM. I say your question is a no brainer, if you want to make power then you should definately get rid of the GSR IM, its not even a close to the potential of the skunk2 IM. With that setup you have typed out, you'll make noticable amounts of power over the gsr IM with the skunk2 IM.

Get the skunk2 IM

<----has felt the power difference

I changed mine to a ITR aem cold air intake. Im not sure if you can modify a GSR one. Plus with the IM and making more power. You should really look into getting a 3" in diameter intake tube.

An ECU upgrade always helps aswell, or a chipped obd1 ecu

P1mpSlap... if you want one I'll try to make another one if I still have some metal left. You will mainly have to pay for the cost of welding.

I'm kinda glad somebody else feels the way I do about the low-end's lack of power.

I just finished the install on my car and I thought it'd totally kick ***, but I'm rather bothered by the amount of power loss. The setup I had before using the GS-R manifold would totally kick its own *** as it stands today.

The only exception I can provide is that the motor is untuned with the manifold and RC310's. After I get the header welded up for EGT and wideband, and the ECU socketed for Hondata, I'll be heading to a nearby Mustang Dyno...maybe even in Cincinnati...eh Rob?

When you get the manifold do you need the throttle bracket? I would also like to buy one. Thanks

Yes, it's recommended that you buy the ITR throttle cable bracket along with the ITR throttle cable to be able to set the correct tension and obtain proper fitment .

i just used an itr bracket its like 4 bucks, anyway i went from 159 to 168 from just that and a chipped p28 (tuned for 1 hour w/ vafc), and i lost power NOWHERE only gained it. It was a very worthwhile mod, and i would also advise a 62-64mm tb upgrade as well.

P.S i made all this on stock cams, cam gears, and in 105 heat. Your car with those mods should pick up substantial power. I did a complete write up on the manifold. Search through my name and created files (its archeived).

Ah, a little tunage in the nati? Excellent times. Youll always have a place to stay. Let me know when youd want to do that.

Cool. I'll definitely take you up on your offer.

I'm thinking about taking my car and Zach's 14B-turbo'd 3G eclipse there to tune our cars. Have you ever been to Race Line Tuning? They're the only place in SW OH that has a Mustang Dyno. I'd kinda like to know how they like to run things b/c I don't wanna go there and not feel comfortable using their facilities.

We can swap your retainers then as well.

I'll probably drive up there with the stock ECU and VAFC and then slap on the Hondata at the dyno.
