how can you tell if a b16a2 has lsd
There is a guy that is trying to sell his b16a2 and wants to know if he has the lsd option on it? The only way I think it could was if it was the s4 tranny right? Well let me know how to tell. Thanks for the help.

Nope, both of mine go forwards at the same speed, and I DEFNITELY HAVE LSD.

That's why I say take a corner. The LSD is supposed to limit/eliminate the wheelspin if one wheel has traction and the other doesn't.
Was your D series boosted?

Hmm, I just did axles awhile ago, and I remember spinning them to check that they were in right. I guess I can jack my car up again and make sure that both mine go forward. I was always told when they go forward at the same rate = LSD. If they do different ways or they don't go smoothly = Non LSD.

Wrong.
Overloading an open diff will also leave two black marks.

Wrong again.
My ITR tranny doesn't do that. Spin one wheel, the other turns the opposite direction.

Yeah mine go opposite directions, and I have looked through the transmission just for verification and it used to have the LSD stamp.
In gear they go the same direction.

Easiest way is to look through the differential.
LSD = nothing blocking your view through the diff (where the inner joints go in the tranny)
Non-LSD = you'll see a bar going diagonally through the diff.
Now if this is a stock 99-00 USDM Civic Si, then they NEVER came with LSD - NEVER.
That alone would tell me there's no LSD, unless someone claims they've added one.
Bait the guy by asking this:
"Hey man, so is the tranny stock? Is it a stock LSD tranny, or what?"
Don't ask him if he added an LSD, because that'd be an easy way to lie and simply say "yeah man."
All this jacking the car up, doing burn-outs, etc. is wrong. I've seen cars lay two black marks with stock DX trannies. I've spun wheels up on the rack at work and seen them both spin opposite directions knowing well that they wre non-LSD.
The only true way is to look through the diff.

that's not always true...
my buddy has a stock '99 Si and when he did a massive burnout the other day, there were 2 equally black strips that lasted for 30 feet or so and both ended at about the same length. maybe within a foot of each other.
my B18C has an LSD and when i had it up on the lift a few months back, i was putting a new axle in and when i turned one wheel, the other wheel would turn in the same direction.
like B18C5-EH2 said... look at the differential. i made sure i did this before i swapped it into my car.

1.Jack the car up in the front
2.spin the wheels manually
*if the tires go different directions you have lsd.
1.jack up the car in the front
2.turn your car on.
3.throttle

1.jack the car up
2. Then slap that foo for trying to
Sell you something not there.

) - Do both wheels spin? If so, it's LSD equipped.
