Intermittent wiper write-up. Anyone interested???
Is anyone interested in a write-up or how-to?? I've done it to my '95 cx, and it's SUPER easy. If no-one else cares, then I won't bother. NO one I've told about it so far really gave a ****, so if you're interested, let me hear you!!!
i wopuld like to see this a lot because i hate how in my cx theres either fast or faster settings. thee is no slow or medium. do a write up man !!!!

hell yeah. write that **** up. i've been driving around for the last 6 months in this damn 92 cx that doesn't have intermitint wipers. today was the last straw, i was about to start to find out how. i figure that you might just need to change the multi function switch and the wiper motor as well? maybe add a wire as well?

It's almost that easy. You do need the switch, but you also need something called the 'Integrated Control Unit'. It's a square box that snaps into the back of your cabin fuse box. That's it. It's a truly 'plug-n-play' swap. No switching wiper motors. No running wires. Just swap these 2 parts.
The only thing is if you swap the switch from a dx/si, you'll also have a switch on your stalk for the rear wiper! If your friend with the dx/si is a nut about weight reduction (like mine is
) you could also convice him to let you swap all your delete plates for his rear wiper assembly. This part of the swap is NOT plug-n-play. You'll have to get the pigtail and plug for the second connector coming off the switch. This plug goes to the rear wiper, and you'll have to extend and run the wires all the way back to the rear wiper assembly. I haven't finished this part of the project, yet.
Note: This works for the 5th gen civics, I don't know about the 4th of 6th gens, though. Sorry.

WOW, now that I look at it, it's not much of a write-up at all, is it? It's just me rambling on!! I hope some of you can make sense of it. If anyone has any ??s post up or drop an IM on me. I'll try to explain a little better. It's too early and last night was a little too rough.
Cool. I bought a wiper switch thinking all civics were wired for it. I was pissed when it didn't work cause it was the second part that I bought for my car that I couldn't use. Are you absolutely 100% sure this works? I don't want to go out and buy another part and hope that it works.
It works on my civic. It's a '95 cx. I didn't see anything in the ETM when I was researching that would be different for a '93 vx. Where are you planning on getting the part? If it's a yard, maybe they'd be cool enough to let you try it out first. Or maybe not.
I'm going to say I'm 99% sure it will work for you, just because you don't have a '95 cx just like mine.
Now that I think about it, the ICU I got is from a '92 dx.
OK, I'm 99.9% sure it will work. I guess life is a risk, eh?

You're probably right, but I just can't see buying another part with the tiny possiblilty of it not working. I'll see if I can borrow a friend's. Is it that simple, plug and play? No wiring or anything?
Yup, plug-n-play. No soldering or wiring or anything. Just plug the switch in, and plug the new ICU in and it's done! I was surprised how easy it was, myself!
YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! My cousin could actually be interested even though he has a EX coupe what ever chassis that is but his wiper sheit is fucced up with only 1 setting.
Unfortunately, I have no idea. I just swapped w/ my buddy who is building a 'racecar'. He was more than happy to just give it to me. From the dealer it's like $90, but it should be pretty cheap from a yard.
I could probably get it for about $15. He won't even know what it is. It's not like that part is a hot item. It wouldn't normally sell any way. Does anyone know if the part is the same for all eg's or is specific to 2/3 dr. Will one from a 4dr work?
BUMP for my fellow 5th gen CX and VX owners who would be interested in this.
and also....would anyone happen to have a pic of the ICU(integrated control unit) or is it pretty obvious to spot? thanks
