Running open header on the d16z6
i got bored today and thought i would run open header for a while on a d16z6 in my gutted 95 cx hatchback w/ a crappy intake and a stock exhaust manifold. it had no low end power but top end like from 5k till redline its crazy. i am running 95 gsr wheels on azenis and in first gear at 5k i spin the tires up to redline and the tach tops out immediatly and then i hit second and it spins up to about 6k
. when i take turns like at the top of second gear i smoke the azenis and push out like crazy. i am very suprised of how much a differnce it made from going to stock exhaust minus the muffler, to open header
. not good for daily driving
but for tracking it, it seems like a it would do good.

Is the car that your refeering to in your signature?
I don't mean to call BS, but we need some info on your setup. Unless its a full full race car I don't see you getting anywhere near those numbers on a fully built B/H series, Let alone a D-series.
I mean, I've seen Erick's racing run a 10.3 on the track, and his car is built in the most extreme manner for chasis and engine. So I don't see how you running a D series, would be anywhere near it in a street car. 11's is a feat with 2.0lt+ b series.....on stripped hatches.....
And if it isn't that car your referring to, what have you done to the d16 to make enough power to lose traction in first gear?

oh, it's the same hatch... but let's just say that it's a beast.
can't say too much about it yet as we're still developing it

a crappy intake that came on the car and no exhaust, as for me loosing traction in first gear i have no clue how. i have plenty of tread on the azenis, maybe cause its so light i dunno.

to the assclown asking how you broke em loose in 1st. Its not that hard I can do it in my CX all through first gear. It takes SKiLL.
ROBERT: I didn't make it CMP due to another let down with the RandD car. IM me sometime.

whats all this hype about losing traction ?
For some reason, I really doubt you loss traction like you stated, because a D series is not going to do that when it's, for 1) stock motor, 2) crappy intake and factory manifolds, 3) on azenis with a lot of tread.
I run open header at the track, and me having an h22, I don't run street tires over there due to traction. But that isn't my point.
Open header is mad fun, but I still doubt you have power like ya say you do when you are running 17's.

Yeah.....D16Z6 all motor 17.23 @ 129 mph?
hmm.......that seems a lot WIERDER to me.
And being all motor D series, I have never seen any car sit before the 60' mark in 5.5 seconds unless it was some POS with a kid who doesn't know how to drive.
*cough* what a coinkedink

WTF? Are you joking? I didn't even ask him in a derogatory manner so why are you referring to me as an assclown?
Your stating, that it doesn't take much power at all, but SKiLL....Please describe to me this skill. We are talking about letting the clutch grab, and then while on a roll smash the throttle down, from there, the tires losing traction on DRY pavement on level ground. That's it. I don't see how there is skill in that at all, the only thing present is power.
You can do this in all of first gear, eh? What motor do you have in your car? What's quarter mile times have you laid down? I'm curious to see what skill is needed, along with what engine/car combo makes it "not hard I can do it in my cx all through first gear" easy.

well just for your information...the 17 second 1/4 time was a joke because i do not like drag racing at all. i prefer hpde's and that type racing not drag racing. and i can loose traction in first gear on dry ground w/ a decent amount of tread on the azenis...maybe cause my car is so leight and i have SKILLZ

1. it doesnt take skills to put foot to floor in first gear and break tires free.
2. its a D series and unless built ur full of ****.
3. from my own personal experience even B series wont break tires free on the road in first gear just by puttin the foot to the floor. hell at 2070lbs w/driver my car wouldnt loose traction in first gear with the current motor setup i have now. sounds like the whole story is totally made up.
4. to the guy that said the original postee thinks he made 50HP from dropping the exhaust.
from watchin 2 of my friends uncork their exhaust at the track and running the same ETs i am not a believer in open header. i told the fools they were wasting their time and once again i was right.
