Default Custom kit: how cheap is it possible

I really want to get into the FI scene. For a custom kit, how much do you think you can get one together for. Keep in mind I want decient components. It is for a 01 B18C1. This is a daily driver, not much for the track.

FMU- 75
Fuel Pump- 30
IC Pipes- Free
DSM Smic- 55

Thats all i have right now, but i got all that for under 400 bucks. It took me 4 months, you have to be patient and wait to find good deals. And being able to bargain with people doesnt hurt.

Cool guys. I guess I should just go do some number crunching and figure out what turbo trim I want to look for. I am going for a more streetable approach. SO a Big T3 or a small Hybrid might be something I will look for. What do you guys think?

Thats how much it should be if you do a tad bit of searching, and are patient. If you go up to the $2000 mark, if you look in the f/i classified, I've seen complete kits go for that, and thats with a decent manifold, T3/4 Turbo, BOV, Wastegate, intercooler, plus odds and ends....you would still need fuel management.

Do you have a budget, or an amount your trying to stay within?

Dude don't listen to all the cheap guys who buy all that dsm crap

For about 2 grand you can get 80-90% all new components(quality stuff) All it takes is patience, hookups, contacts, searching countlessly in classifieds. I put together a high quality kit, wiht 90 % new stuff, for under $2,500. ONe 3 parts of mine i decided to get the btter ones so i could have done the kit for about $500 less, but chose to get better parts

Here's my current setup list w/ prices:

Garrett T3- $50
Revhard mani- $300
Revhard FMIC w/ piping- $600
GReddy Type S BOV- free (trade)
GE oil adapter- $90
RX7 460cc injectors- $50
VAFC- free (trade)
GReddy Profec B- $200 (bought this a LOOOONG time ago)
Misc oil feed/return lines- $120
Misc. fittings- $20
Pan tapping/welding- $10
Primary charge pipe & WG dump tube- $120

Running total: $1560

And that's no cheapo DSM/ghetto kit either, I mean the revhard mani and FMIC are , and the GE oil adapter kicks *** (makes installation soo much easier!)!

Like quikB18B said, be paitence, search, make contacts.. you'll find the deals if you look hard enough

I'm soo glad we've got a pull-a-part here. I helped a friend put a setup together that he's currently running on for $300

Saab T3 used: $46.85
Saab intercooler: $13.90 (convinced them it was an evaporator core )
Volvo adjustable blow-off valve w/flange $4.95
Saab/volvo factory hosing/piping $25.00
miscellaneous thiefed oil fittings/pipes $free
high pressure oil hose from advance $5.50
fittings from ace hardware $6.00
used greddy blue box off ebay $55.00 (shipped)
T3 adapter flange off ebay $20.00 (shipped)
my ghetto fab welding skills on his no-name header and the bov flange $free (cost him beer though :D)
install time $free
boost gauge and air/fuel gauge $125.00 off ebay shipped

and there you have it. He's running the stock saab setting of 8psi and it's running just fine all day long!

actual total on the list is $302.20 but add on about $25 for other miscellaneous supplies such as high temp paint and a few gaskets and cleaners we bought for it all also that I just can't remember pricing.
