I think he's asking if the weight of the oil he is using has any correlation with his VTEC solenoid malfunctioning.

doubtful, although I swear by 5w30 or 5w40 oil myself. I can hear the solenoid activate/deactivate (also running boosted oil pressure with smaller filter).
probably just a fluke...get the Vtec solenoid checked out.

ok well im scared to use my car now. When I first noticed the cars problem it was bogging in first and second. Maybe like too much fuel and not enough air. Then when I turned it and accelerated it felt like there was 2 fat bitches in the back seat and then bounced the next time I was in first. Before I took it back to school I was in neutral and revved it to 6 grand and i could hear a releif in the engine. I then started driving normally and it was ok, but the chck engine light is still on. Does any of this help???? Thanks tweak

Jumper the diagnostic plug (blue 2 lead plug next to the ECU), turn the ignition to ON (do not start the engine), and count the long and short blinks of the CEL.
But from what you describe, maybe check your ignition system. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc ...

just out of curiosity when was the last time you checked the dipstick? also the car calls for 5 weight in the winter and ten in the summer. unless you live in the tropics i would be using a 5 weight oil
